Recommended Posts

My weight is at 202 right now. I am 5'1" and 35 years young! I have 2boys. When I got pregnant with my oldest I was 19 and gained 87 pounds. My starting weight was 120ish. I maintained 165 for 8 years after. I got pregnant with my 2nd boys and gained 84 pounds. Held my weight at 185 for another 8 years. Knowing I am heavy I avoid scales at all cost. To my surprise I gained more weight. I stared looking into this and gastric sleeve. I am gathering all my info at this point. YouTube diaries r becoming my new best friend as far as information.

Please let me know ur story! Right now at the moment I know no one who has done this. If I do I am not aware of it. My fear is that I will be alone with my decision. I have support from my husband but he isn't battling my mental demons with weight. Thanks in advance for your story or advice.

My location is in the Philadelphia pa area.

Welcome wrapgirl! I was banded in February 2012. Before my lap band I took 3 different medications for my high blood pressure and was pre-diabetic. Now, I've lost 62 pounds, I'm 28 pounds away from my goal weight. I'm no longer pre-diabetic and the biggest victory is I no longer have high blood pressure, No more daily medication. The lap band saved my life.

Now that being said, the band is JUST A TOOL. You have to change your lifestyle completely. I eat 3 meals & 1 snack a day, my meals are 1 cup in size with 3-4ozs of Protein, and 1/4 cup of veggies and maybe some carbs. I also exercise daily, I walk the stairs at work (30 flights a day), ride my exercise bike for 30 minutes each evening and spend the weekend outside gardening, walking and playing. If you are willing to follow the band lifestyle then it works wonders.

But, you need to find what works best for you. Do your research. Learn the good and the bad about all your options. Go to a seminar, talk with your doctor, and read everything you can find on the subject.

My husband supports me completely, he is my biggest cheerleader. I think the biggest help for him was learning too. Be sure to take your husband to seminars, talk with your doctor, etc. Make sure he is educated too. Good luck to you.
