vinesqueen 2 Posted March 27, 2006 Are you discouraged with your band journey? You can give up.... AFTER I DO. Lately there have been several threads where people are discouraged after a few weeks, a few months or even several months out because they are not losing like they want to, or think they should. So, you wanna give up? I hearby give you permission to quit. But there's a catch. You can only give up after I've given up, you can only give up after you spend as much time as I've put in. Are you a winded wabbit? Well my sisters and brothers, catch your breath and dust yourself off, and get back up on that pony. Just new and not filled yet or filled for a couple of weeks? Give that fill time to work, or make another appointment for another fill. I gained 5 pound last night. 5 pound on 1200 calories. But I'm not giving up. I'm not giving up on my band and I'm not giving up on myself. I know that the doctors will be able to treat me so that I too can finally lose the weight and bulk. I have to believe this. I've lost 15 pounds since April 05. If I haven't given up, neither can you.

banded_for_life 2 Posted March 28, 2006 Thanks Vines for the reminder. I got back on my pony today and was not giving up...just a little tired. But you reminded me that there are of course others out there that have it much worse than I do. Best wishes!
PhotoNut 7 Posted March 28, 2006 Vines... whatever got into you, m'dear, THANK YOU for sharing it with this big group of people. This kind of attitude can be infectious and I hope everyone catches it! *hugs*
MeganA 35 Posted March 28, 2006 YEAH you tell 'em Vines!!! I think there should be a warning on all lapbands: "Warning: Strength reguired to lose weight with lapband. Must be willing to be patient, form new habits, and forgive yourself." Megan
sleepyjean 0 Posted March 28, 2006 Vines, I'm sure just about everyone knows this, but I don't: what do you think is causing you to be a turtle? It scares me a little that we can get banded and drink the Protein Powder and exercise and do everything right, but can't lose more than 1lb per month. What's blocking you? What does your doctor say? I'm getting banded in about a month and am trying to prepare myself mentally for all possible outcomes.
DeLarla 22 Posted March 28, 2006 That's the beauty of the band - it will always be there waiting when you decided to put your fighting gloves back on. I'm with ya, Chrystal!
~c~ 1 Posted March 28, 2006 Love it. I've been banded for 4 years have lost 3/4's of the weight but have NEVER given up.Took longgg breaks but never gave up. I am over the last break and have decided to add exercise now.Somehow if you don't give up, it usually comes together in it's own time. I love Megan's warning...so true! Kryssa 1 Posted March 28, 2006 Thanks for the encouragement, Vines. I'm not giving up either. I'm just a little (ok, a lot) frustrated. Five fills + Water aerobics twice a week + personal trainer twice a week = 11 lbs in 24 weeks. (At 1/2 a lb a week it will take me... never mind, that way insanity lies.) I'm going to go get another fill tomorrow and keep getting them until I'm eating normal little bandster portions without hunger. Good luck beating up on the Cushings!
