I have so much more food conscious since my surgery. I pay more attention to what kind of food is in my house. what my kids are eating and how much. I have been going through my cupboards and making single serving bags of Cereal, oatmeal, grits I have written on the ziplock bags how much Water to add and how long to cook it in the microwave. I made my own instant meals. I took my dehydrated refried Beans, and instant mashed potatoes and have done the same thing with them. I plan on continuing this it has made it easier for my kids to decide what they want. it's made it easier for me to find something to make them. I hope that with doing this my kids will become more aware of there serving sizes. I got use to cooking for large groups of ppl. But i am learning how to cook for just my family and trying to not have leftovers and if i do i freeze them. I feel very productive again.

I get to start eating soft foods tomorrow! I get so excited with each step I make. My weight loss has slowed this last week. but i know that's normal so i am not too worried. I am going to get me a note book that i can carry with me to write down all my foods. maybe that'll help to. I am still learning how to eat and i know it'll take some time. I have had to get a timer to time my dry meals i have a horrible habit of forgetting and taking a drink too soon and the timer has been awesome!

This is the first year all my kids have been in school all day so it's different having the days to myself. keeping my self busy and away from food hasn't been too hard i seem to have a harder time at night after the kids have gone to bed. right now i am fighting the erg to go into the kitchen to find something.

I recommend finding some favorite flavors of crystal light and propel type of Water flavors. This has enabled me and my husband to not want or crave soda. We have our own favorite flavors and we keep them in the house so when we want something besides Water we grab a pack and mix us one. I am addicted to peach mango green tea- wonderful kinda taste like a mixed drink.

I also choose to track my food intake of myfitnesspal and that has help tremendously.

Sounds like you are doing great and your way will rub off on your family as well.

Congrats!

I was using myfitnesspal pre-op. It's a great app. I think most people say I only ate this.... But once u add up all the cals you can see why you're gaining. During pre-op diet I still ate fast food but made lower calorie choices. I lost 30 pounds just doing that.

I was a big diet soda addict. I loved coke zero. That black can is so sexy. Lol. Knowing that I would be able to drink sodas afterward I quit early. I started drinking the soda water drinks. It's what I call them. It's has a little fizz to them but not much. I have drunk some since surgery and haven't had a prob.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
