I had my son last December and was a year into my lap band down 45lbs. My son was very unexpected and I can't seem to get out of this mind set that it was a waste considering I gained 60 through my pregnancy and have only lost about 15lbs since I had him! Any words of encouragement?

first of congrats on your "unexpected" bundle of joy.

THe weight loss initally probally kicked your body into gear for conception and you got your body healthy enough for conception, that is massive.

Work with your MD and nutrtionist to get you back on track to loose the weight you need to, and to stay healthy for your new family.

the snow has not flown yet so if yo u can bundle up your baby and go for a walk or do some aerobics or something when baby is napping. You can do it

Congratulations on your baby!

The band is only a waste if you choose not to use it.

If I were you, I'd go into your surgeon and see if you need a fill. Then, I would make an appointment with a nutritionist and let them help you set realistic food guidelines that will help you to eat healthy and lose weight.

The band is just tool, you have to make the choice to use it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
