GeorgiaGirlie 6 Posted September 30, 2012 I was banded 9/21 and i'm already eating solid foods. But when I eat it, I chew, chew, chew until it is basically mush. Ever since I've been doing it (since yesterday) i've been feeling more full. When I was eating just mashed potatoes and pudding, I would be hungry within an hour or so. Is this okay? Will this be successful in weight loss? I do eat small portions. Has anyone else done this? I haven't felt sick or anything. My body definitely tells me when I'm full. wildrose1966 396 Posted September 30, 2012 I do not think it is okay, your dr gave you an eating plan for a reason, your stomach needs to heal, even if you feel good on the outside, chances are you are still swollen and stitches have not healed on the inside Trying to digest food right now is making your stomach work and they do not want it working. I have been banded for 12 days and am not allowed to eat mashed potaoes yet. If it falls off a spoon I can have it. shakes, smoothies, yogurt, pudding, Soup.........that is about it. Eat 3-5 oz every 3hrs, get a Protein shake in you, but don't mess with your healing. You ask if this will be successful in your weightloss.......if you can't follow dr's orders for your post op eating plan how are you going to adjust your eating with your band for life.............because we all know we can eat around the band. Sorry to be a bit harsh, but I paid $16,000 out of my own pocket for my surgery and there is no way I would risk throwing that money away because I was hungry..........I would just have another Protein rich shake or smoothie Good luck to you. 4 A New New Dawn, DiddyOlea, dj112 and 1 other reacted to this

DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted September 30, 2012 Well that depends, are you supposed to be eating solids just 8 days after surgery? If you doctor gave his approval, then cool. If you're not supposed to be on solids, I'd strongly suggest going back to whatever phase you're supposed to be on and following the rules your doctor gave you. Skipping ahead on the post op diet puts your health and band at serious risk. 2 wildrose1966 and Maddysgram reacted to this
GeorgiaGirlie 6 Posted September 30, 2012 Thank ya'll so much for your advice. I'm definitely going back to my mush diet. I was just feeling better knowing that I wasn't full. It is rough, but that's life. Ashleigh 1 wildrose1966 reacted to this

fericito 138 Posted September 30, 2012 Bandster hell is miserable but it does get better. Obeying your dr's orders is the best thing you can do for yourself no matter how hard it is. You can do this!! Best of luck to you.
A New New Dawn 1,695 Posted September 30, 2012 Your body is still healing so definitely follow the diet plan your doctor gave you. You can cause issues (such as band slippage) but pushing your body. Right now, it is about healing, not about losing weight so focus on following your respective doctor's orders.
ElleG 394 Posted September 30, 2012 I would follow the progression laid out by the doc. Best wishes!
kll724 3,055 Posted September 30, 2012 If your surgeon's office gave you the okay for solid foods, it is okay! My surgeon's office kept me and his patients on liquids for weeks afterward. I was not allowed to go to the menu you have taken upon yourself to eat until about 4 weeks after my surgery. Sorry, I personally, can not condone this menu. Best wishes, try following your surgeon's orders! Karen
Mayasgram 351 Posted September 30, 2012 OMG did you want folks to tell you 9 days out of surgery it was okay to eat solids . You can really screw up your healing insides. okay here goes NO it is not okay. That is if you intend to swallow it. The Dr has a plan for a reason it is not to make you suffer but to let you heal. During this phase you learn to follow directions if you already know better then the Dr and his plan and are doing what you want you are in for a long bumpy ride. Sorry if I sound harsh but sometimes we need a wake up call and I am just sayin Hello wake up..........
