Is Kettlecorn Popcorn Ok?

Recommended Posts

I love kettlecorn popcorn! I just bought A bag and you Can have 2 cups and 130 calories. After you are on solids for a while can you eat popcorn? Will it get stuck?

I tolerate popcorn well...but again, it's important to read nutrition labels.

I can say with honesty that I would be considered to be addicted to kettle corn. However it does have some additional calories in the way of added carbs...which popcorn is to begin with.

I would enjoy it in very small amounts...and if you are unable to stay with small amounts, it would be better to avoid except on rare occasions.

Other's mileage may vary...

popcorn is a slider for me to. Also crunchy carbs are my trigger food. Kettle corn is also salty and sugary. Will it prompt you to drink liquids with calories? I could never ever keep it in my house.

It does make me thirsty but i would just drink Water. I only bought it b/c i will be starting my pre-op diet in a few wks and i wanted to have it now. Once i get banded i will probably choose a better snack, if i need a snack at all. This will come down the road if i still want to have some. Thanks for your input!

Each person is different and chooses a diffrent path to lose. I was never told carbs are bad by my nutritionsnist - I was told too much of anything is bad. I love the 100 calorie bags of kettle corn. I doesn't make me thirsty and does fill me up. For me it's a great snack for mid morning. I was told it ws fine, it is a whole grain and very tasty.

For me I do eat it without problems. But, again you just have to choose your path. I choose to count my calories with myfitnesspal and as long as I keep my calories below 1250 I am happy and I have lost 35 lbs in 3 months.

What's a slider??

Does that mean you can eat & eat & eat it?

This forum needs a sticky thread of terminology lol.....PB'ing, sliders, sliming, being stuck.....learning so much here. They don't speak like this at the support group I go to

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
