Banded 4 Days Ago When I Can Sleep On My Stomach Or Side? Coughing?

Recommended Posts

1. Banded 4 days ago when I can sleep on my stomach or side? I've been sleeping on my back for 4 days and I wake up with lower back pain every morning.

2. I've been coughing a lot and it feels like I have a hair or tickle in my throat. What is this? Is my esophagus inflamed or irritated from the anesthesia?

I was banded 9 days ago and I can finally sleep on my side.

My throat still hurts from intubation.

The strange thing is I wake up with a totally dry mouth.

No saliva!

I did not have this pre surgery.

It gets better pretty fast.

I slept on my side the day of surgery, lots of pillows strategically placed. Had to wake up and sit up everytime I needed to turn.

Cough, probably from the surgery, drugs and tubes.

Happy recovery.

you should be able to sleep on your side or stomach when comfortable to you

pillows help from what i hear

as for the coughing, i did not, but my throat was alittle sore

if you are doing heavy coughing and doing it alot, let the dr know just in case

congrats on your surgery and rest and sip sip.

You sleep in the position that is most comfortable for you. A lot of people find that if they position a pillow next to their stomach it helps them to be able to comfortably sleep on their side. A pillow can also help when sleeping on your back, put it under your knees to help give some extra support. Or put a pillow between your legs when sleeping on your side.

When I had my surgery they put a little circle patch on my neck to dry up secretions and prevent nausea, told me to leave it on 3 days. When I got home the day of surgery I could not swallow cause I had not spit to swallow, I was so dry. Just be sure you dont have one of these little Patches on still. It will really dry you out.

I can't sleep on my back either because on my back. The first few nights I slept with a lot of pillows behind me to keep me in a semi sitting position. The second morning when I woke I found I was on my side with pillows under my tummy for support and that was comfy. So yes if you can manage to get on your side use pillows to support, by the third night I was sleeping partially face down but with a pillow under my right so I wasn't flat on my tummy.

I had coughing for over a week too, it was from irritation from the tubes they put down your throat, it will settle but if you are concerned call your surgeon. It hurt like heck to cough.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
