Diet Help!!!

Recommended Posts

So I've been banded since 2/2012

Long story short I've only lost 16lbs to date. Before surgery I lost almost 40lbs was doing great working out and eating right.

Now I am in a green zone but find it hard to make good food choices and typically not really hungry. I am just frustrated. I went and bought Protein powder last week to help supplement but I know my nutritionist really didnt want me to get my Protein that way. I just feel so lost.... When I go to aftercare they seem to be ok with my weight loss but the most I have lost in a 3 week period is 4lbs. I guess I was just expecting more after doing this drastic measure. Anyone have suggestions???

Normal day

Breakfast- egg sausage or juice oatmeal or nothing if I can't tolerate it

Snack- Jerky

Lunch- tuna, Soup, salad , seafood

Usually no other snack or a Hershey's kiss if wanting something sweet

dinner fish, chicken or beef maybe veggies if still hungry

Drink lot of Water with those powder mixes

Workout 3-5 times a week 40 mins cardio and strength

Downfall days I have chips and or candy popcorn

I would encourage you to use an app to track your diet, like myfitnesspal. I kno sometimes I'm really surprised by how much more I'm consuming than I originally thought. That's where I'd start first, is to see if my diet needed tweaking and then go from there. Are u using any toppings like butter or mayo?

The snacking really gets me. Sweets if I start that it takes a few weeks to get the cravings to go away. It's not easy, but try to cut out or down on snacking or choose fruit and nuts (raw). Best wishes! :)

I agree with wallflower, I'd start tracking your calories to see how much you're actually consuming. Most people who aren't losing and also don't track calories are usually shocked at what they're eating when they start. Plus, it'll show you problem foods you need to change or get rid of entirely.

Thanks ladies

I use the Lose It app

My biggest issue is those are the foods I carry around but I really don't / can't eat them all

Nice post dude. I really appreciate that. According to me it is most important to take a balanced diet. It's helps to spend a healthy life. But just diet is not enough, You must have to take some exercise with your diet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
