This is so hard' date=' but i know this will pass. I got all shaky, nauseous, and have a headache, and it is only day one. Pushing through, and know it will get better. Hopefully since i get to drink shakes i will feel better. Less than two weeks though! Woot woot![/quote']

It will!!! I'm day two much better than I thought it would be. Try not to think about it ur focus that u r not eating. I just try to throw myself all into my work. Especially since I will be off for a whole. Taking two weeks off then we are closed the week of Thanksgiving so after 10/30 I don't go back to work until 11/27. So gotta make sure my work is caught up even though I will still have a laptop and printer at home.

Very good point and I'm glad it gets better!! I will just try to work and sleep. Lol

You are getting a nice little break for nov!! That is good though, so you can make sure you get rest to recover.

I hope you have a fabulous day 3!!

November 5th. I'm doing SO much better on the preop diet than I thought I would. It's going on my third day.

I think my biggest fear is my liver not having shrunk enough via the preop diet and them having to do an open procedure. im worried because we are cash pay and that would wreck our finances.

I get

1 Protein Shake or source (eggs, chicken)

1 fruit (1/2 cup)

1 dairy (cheese stick, cottage cheese, milk)

1protein

2cups of veggies

1protein

2cups veggies

700 cals.

This will be my 3rd day on preop diet (my own) down 5 lb in 2 days. My Dr doesn't put me on a strict diet like most of you he suggested eating light the week before and nothing but Clear Liquids the day before surgery. I'm following a plan one of you posted and doing well so far. Nov. 2nd get here fast I'm eager

So what is everyone doing for their pre-op diet? It sounds like different docs advise different routines' date=' but most boil down to Protein Drinks, low/no sugar and carbs, and about 800-1200 cal. per day.

I think I will need to write myself out a schedule. I seem to do well in the day, but mess us in the evening at home. Ugh! Better planning needs to be done on my part![/quote']

I am finding this site so interesting I have had my band for 7 years now and my pre op food was Opti fast shakes for two weeks prior to surgery the reason the Drs ask you to do this is to help get rid of some of the fat around your liver it makes it easier to do the surgery! I found the two weeks prior hard it was so much better after the surgery this will be the best decision you will ever make!! Truly life changing in so many ways! I wish you luck for your pending surgery it will be an amazing journey you are about to take!

I am on Day 3 of my pre-op diet. Getting banded on November 6th. It has been going pretty good. I am only allowed three shakes a day plus broth and sugar free ice pops. So far, I have just been having the shakes. Not too hungry....been drinking lots of Water and no calorie drinks.< /p>

Hardest part I am having a problem with is breaking the habit of eating. I was making my kids' lunch and really had to keep myself from munching. I wasn't even hungry....just so used to it.

On the bright side, the number on the scale is getting smaller!

How much have you lost?

I've lost about 7 lbs but I'm trying no to pay attention to the scale too much right now so I don't get disappointed. My clothes definitely feel better, though.

My doctor is letting me drink the Slimfast 3-2-1 Protein Shakes. The strawberry ones are really good and filling. Give it a day or two and you will feel better, just hang in there!

I am so excited! I just got my date!!! Another November 6th girl here! I would love to have some Facebook buddies if anyone else is down!

I am also set for Nov 6. Currently in the excited/terrified mix. I have been researching this off and on for years. Finally made the step to move forward. Good luck to you. I am now starting the pre-op diet and want to do it all "right" for the best outcome.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
