I don't know what I'll name my band yet, but I know she's a girl! ;)

She went in yesterday (the 27th) around noon. All went well. I was home around 6pm...after a 2 hour drive. All four surgeons with my group where there and they were fantastic. My nurses were wonderful too!

Now my sweet Husband is taking care of me and doing a great job!

I'm in a lot of pain, but its not completely unbearable. I've got my hot pad on me and am taking my meds on time. Did anyone have problems with dry heaving?

Congrats on your new life.

Please call your doctor regarding dry heaves. It is common to feel sick after anesthesia, your doctor can give you nausea meds. You do not want to be vomiting.

Take care.

Congrats on your post op progress...

I did not have any issues with dry heaves post op...but this is not a good thing to be happening.

Are you taking any pain medication? Prescription pain meds are notorious for causing both nausea and vomiting, especially if you are not accustomed to using them.

Call your surgeon ASAP to advise them what is going on; you don't want to risk harming the placement of your new band.

Best wishes...

I got banded on the 27th around noon too (we're twinsies). Definitely call your surgeon about the heaving, you don't want to start vomiting. So far so good here, just a little sure and tired.

I was given a Px for resolvable Zofran. It has helped tremendously. My Dr called a couple hours ago to check on me. I was able to ask a lot of questions and he was very helpful.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. I've been walking a lot and I can tell its helping a ton!

Oh and I do have a Px for pain meds...it's liquid Lortab.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
