Hows The Pre Op Diet Going?

Recommended Posts

I was doing ok until today. The smell of these shakes is nauseating. So I'm going to regroup and try to find something that I can tolerate. Hope your doing better than I am....LOL!

When I was on my pre op, after day 1, I went and bought a bag of straws, I couldn't stand the smell.....lots of ice in a blender, straws and even a bit of flavoring (sf syrups, defcaf instant coffee). It does get better.

My huge case of Unjury arrived today. I was tempted to taste it, then I said, "Nah" I'm gonna be tasting nothing but starting in a week or so!

My surgery date is October 5th-- just less than a week of this Pre-op diet- - I was feeling pretty good up until yesterday, I ended up with an awful headache- I figure it was because I didn't drink enough water- feeling better today-- I don't think I have lost much weight on the diet-- but my surgeon wanted it to focus on shrinking my liver-- hopefully that is happening!! I don't mind my Protein shakes-- however I am getting sick of all the sweetness!!! Hope you are all doing well!!

(Im getting excited!!)

How is it today everyone? Are you drinking shakes made with ice in a blender or just shakes in milk? Does anyone make them w soy or almond milk? Has anyone tried the Unjury cheese powder?

Good luck w/ your pre-op!

I recall being told (or reading in the post-op materials) not to drink from a straw. I believe because it's very easy to drink too much too fast. Pre-op straws, no issue.

Where did you order the unjury? The chocolate is fantastic and I'd love to get more (a friend game me hers).

Started my pre op diet today. First shake was horrible so I added some cocoa powder and vanilla extract to my chocolate lunch shake and it went down a little better. I cant stand the smell so I hold my breath while drinking...lol

I am a little hungry between shakes but nothing I cant handle.

I put mine jn one lf those Water cups that have a lid with a straw-- this way you can avoid the smell- You can pick them up for a couple bucks at the dollar store!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
