Pain Near Diaphragm And Middle Back

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I don't post here often, usually just check in every few days. My surgery was 8/24/12, so I'll be 5 wks post-op tomorrow. I also had a small Hernia Repaired. I have been healing great and was able to start solids this past week. I do not have any Fluid in my band. Last night I started experiencing some pain in my middle back and diaphragm/band area. I thought it was gas and took some gas-x. The pain I'm talking about feels similar to post-op pain/pressure, the stomach-diaphragm pain is not constant, I just feel it when some gas moves or something. The back pain is pretty constant. I've had my gallbladder removed, so I know that's not the problem.

Saturday, I was working in the yard and fell over a stump, straight on my stomach; I was fine and didn't feel any immediate pain. My son has also been sick this week (he's 3, weighs about 40lbs.) so I've been carrying/holding him more often this week. But what I think really caused my problem happened last night. I was eating a hard shell chicken taco, (this is allowed right now per my dr. and it was within my dietary guidelines). Everything felt fine but I took a bite or two too many and felt nauseous and gassy after I ate. I KNOW for certain that my bites are too big right now as well! The pain started mildly last night and has gotten progressively worse today. I've been able to keep all my food down, but tonight while I was eating I became uncomfortable and stopped eating after a few bites.

I have my 1st fill scheduled for Tuesday and am going to call my dr. in the morning but I was wondering if any of you had any insight. What I'm thinking is that I've irritated my stomach and need to go on fluids for a couple of days?

I hope this isn't all a rambling mess! Thanks in advance!

Considering you're considerably post op, it definitely wouldn't be gas from surgery. I'm sure you probably just pulled a muscle when you fell and then further aggravated it by carrying your son, however I'd give your surgeon a call and see what he says. Better safe than sorry plus it will ease your mind.

i "choked on the chicken" so i call it ... i felt the chicken push through the band and then i got really tight because of making the band and pouch angry ... they took out some Fluid because i couldnt eat and they wanted to give the pouch and band area time to calm down. ... all is fine now.

everyone is different .. but id suggest doing liquids or sliders (yogurt, Jello, soup) to give your pouch time to calm down. it might be a combo of all of what has happened with you ... but it might have been too soon for the taco
