Can you name this hormone that regulates? And how does it regulate it??

Just in case Missy doesn't get back on, she posted this on this thread. It's called Ghrelin.

I hope this helps you!

The hormone that causes hunger is called Ghrelin. It is produced by the stomach, specifically the top outer portion. It increases before meals and decreases after meals. Because of where the band is placed, it lessens this hormone production thus creating less hunger signals to the brain. Essentially, people who opt for the Sleeve have that portion of their stomach removed entirely.

Here's a Wiki article on Ghrelin if you want to read about it more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghrelin

Mind you, suppressing that hormone is only part of what the band does. You are correct that by squeezing around the stomach and food rubbing through it, it also plays a part in hunger satiation. It tricks your brain into thinking "Oh I've had tons of food, I'm not hungry".

It's amazing how complicated and complex a little band really is :)

so your saying just by placing the band by the fundus of the stomach it will decrease this hormone, your confusing many

I've read about Ghrelin and it sounds like Mis73 is right.

Just wanted to check if she knows what she is talking about. baffles me that she thinks by just placing a band by the fundus of stomach can decrease this hormone.

I thought this forum would be very encouraging to those who have an eating disorder. It is just monopolized by certain people who give out mis information. peace out, going to look somewhere else, hopefully none of you are on it. peace out and good look on your journey.

Most of these posts have been women catfighting over definitions and who should percieve what. The purpose of this thread is for ppeople to share their REAL LIFE experiences w progressing their post op diet. It is not a recommendation to do so. It is educational for us real life people to see what happens. Thank u posters who have stayed on topic. I have yet to see a real life incident where progressing has gone wrong. Interesting. Ladies please stay on topic per thread and stop these quibbles that I keep seeing more of.

How long were u guys sore for? Like how many days?

My side was sore to where I couldn't bend with out pain for about 10 days. It was manageable though, not severe. My neck hurt me too for 4 days, and lost my voice for about 5 days. And the world rejoiced lol

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
