I am PB'ing everything. Seemed all was ok after the fill. But I am either eating too fast, or too big a pieces. I have problems only when it is ANYthing other than ground meat. I am kinda back to the mushy stage. I think I have pushed a bit trying yesterday to eat a piece of fried chicken, just as a test, and couldn't even get one tiny bite down. This morning I tried a single donut hole, came back up.

I can drink Water like a fish, no prob there. But nothing stays down. Too tight? Or give it some time?

How long ago was your last fill?

Is it possible you're not taking small enough bites, chewing it enough, and/or pausing between bites?

I find since getting into the Green Zone, I have to take very small bites. I also put my fork down and pause between bites. If I don't do this, I will get stuck for sure.

I actually took a pic of the bite size I use:

If you try all the above and still are PBing and eating only mushies, you should talk to your surgeon about about the possibility of being too tight and a little unfill.

Good luck!

I would do liquids for 24 hrs and mushies for 24 hrs, you have irritated your band. If after that you are still having problems call your doctor. Since you are able to drink Water without problems, it sounds like you were eating too fast and to big a bits. Every time I get a fill I have to relearn how to eat. Slow down with small bits. Good luck.

OK, wow, that is a small bite. I can tell you now that I am definitely overdoing it. I have "irritated the band". I am going to do as you state and go to liquids for tomorrow.

What happens when the band gets irritated? I was doing pretty good in the begining.

I also forgot to report that I am a flight attendant and just got back from a trip. Wondering how much pressure is put on the band from constant altitude changes.

also, it feels like everything kinda expands in my throat as if a sponge were thrown into Water. The only bread I tested was the donut hole. Bad idea, but I thought "only one". A little pieced up rotisserie chicken wouldn't go either and it was soft. I now know bites have been too large even though I thought the weren't. I definitely do better with a visual.

Boy Missy, thanks for the visual, I def take too big of bites too, no wonder I get stuck often and yes I'm still learning I know, I know, don't fuss. I'm only 3 and half months post op but have had my shares of being stuck and my shares of PB'ing. I do find it hard to eat chicken unless I have gravy or BBQ Sauce on it or I eat dark meat. Tonight I warmed up pork roast that I cooked in the crock pot and had to have BBQ sauce on it but I did ok on that. As far as the donut hole, I wouldn't dare as those were the things that got me in this shape in the first place and I wouldn't be able to stop at 1 so I just choose not to eat bad stuff, just my choice. I do however allow myself to eat 1 white chocolate Bliss a day for my sweet tooth other than that I eat sf Jello or greek yogurt with sf carmel sauce on it, yummy. Breads, no go for me, can't do it anymore, gets stuck. I would try the liquids then mushies to let your band rest and heal from the irritation from PB'ing, as I was told, you tend to swell in there from all of that and it needs time to heal. As far as your profession, hm, I can't answer that question with the altitude thing. Hope you feel better. Good luck.

I have read threads on this site regarding traveling and some people say they get tight when they fly. Search for threads on travel.

Its doughtful that you have damaged your band. I would let your doctor know what happened your next visit. I like to keep mine informed of everything that happens.

You will be fine.

Wow, that is the smallest bite of food I have ever seen lol. I personally, take a bigger bite than most people probably would, still at least half the size of the bites I would take pre-band. I like to chew and taste the food, and I just can't seen to enjoy it if it's the size of a pea.

So anyway, I take larger bites but I swallow it in stages. So I won't swallow the whole bite all at once. I know I run the risk of accidently swallowing the entire bite, but so far I've had no issues :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
