Actually, I have tons more energy and am much less tired because I am eating healthier. My concentration is much better because of it, too.

You shouldn't touch your meds without talking to your doctor first. Adjusting your dose is something only he can safely decide.

Everyone is different, how soon you see the difference depends on your body and how much you have to lose.

You should be eating "normal" healthy meals, definitely not just snack food.

Have you been to a seminar to learn about the band? Have you been to a nutritionist? If not, I'd highly recommend you do both as both are crucial towards your success.

I have way more energy now and my concentration is definitely better, I am a much healthier person.

Your doctor is the one to decide medication dosages. Please consult him/her.

Everyone looses weight differently and depending on how much weight you have to loose as to when you will physically see it. For me I started noticing my clothes where looser after about 30 pounds.

I can eat any foods. I eat 3 meals a day & 1 snack. I eat Protein first then veggies & then carbs, total of 1 cup of food.

I recommend you get the book Bandwagon by Jean McMillan. It is full of great information and will answer alot of questions. There is an ad for it at the bottom of this web page, just click on the ad.

Good luck on your new journey.

You should make a list of your questions and sit down with your doctors and get your questions answered. That's what they are there for. Make sure before they roll you in for surgery you really have "no more questions". Pre op I went to my doc with a legal pad of questions and he sat with me and answered them all. Good luck! :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
