Im Not Loosing

Recommended Posts

I work out 1 hr a day. Cardio and weights. I had a hysterctomy about 3 years ago. I don't take hormones. I was banded june 20th only lost 20 lbs. I'm eating about 1100 calories a day or less. I don't know what to do. I'm so upset. I'm not giving up. I need help or advice or something. I don't want to start taking diet pills or fat burners. Please help. I hope someone out there has a similar issue that can offer me some advice.

If you're eating 1100 calories a day and exercising, you definitely should be losing weight.

I would get your hormones checked as well as your thyroid. You could very well have a medical issue that's causing the difficulty losing weight. Make an appointment with your primary care doctor, tell him what's going on, and get a thorough physical as well as blood work done.

Not that I'm an expert by any way shape or form. But what kind of calories are they? Protien and Fiber are critical.

And too few calories puts the body in starvation mode..even with excercise. Just my opinion.

Good luck!!! :)

I'm not any meds. I take supplements and Vitamin. My thyroid is fine. I don't have ovaries = no hormones= Menapause. I eat good amount of Protein and fiber and take fiber pills. I don't know what's wrong. I have lost some inches. I was thinking of maybe some fat burners but I was trying to stay away from them.

Your profile is blank, we could help you better if you'd fill it out.

Regardless, I would still get a physical just to rule out any medical issues.

it is normal to hit a plateau for a while and more than once. i am sure you will start loosing again just give it time i say as long as you are losing inches good for you! what's important is that your health get better not how big you are.

I am with some of the others here, too few calories actually shuts down your metabolism. Your body thinks it's starving to death and conserves everything. Insufficient Protein will also keep you from losing. Good luck!

Even though you aren't taking hormones, that hysterectomy likely has your hormones totally out of whack. 5 years after my (partial) hysterectomy my ovaries stopped functioning normally and my weight shot up with very little help from me. Have you had those levels checked out?

If you are not already doing so, it can pay to log your food and exercise with an app such as myfitnesspal.com

this was a real eye opener for me and I discovered I was actually eating more than I realised, despite my best intentions.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
