I had the lapband done almost 4 years ago. I lost 50 pounds and have now gained back 7. I still have 30 or so to go. I have not had a fill in a couple of years but I struggle to eat during the day and I am very limited on what I can eat. I am afraid to go back to the doctor because I still vomit alot if I eat something solid during the day and I can't eat anything that may cause the slightest bit of gas. I am also afraid that the doc will yell at me! I am really frustrated and discussed with myself. I know I eat all the wrong things but I am always hungry. My daughter just became an RN... do you think it would be ok if I have her let it all out of my band and start back slowly? I am just looking for some answers???

I doubt your Dr will yell at you. And as much as your daughter had good intentions she isnt a bariatric surgeon so I wouldnt let her do the fill.

You need to make an appointment... start over and get back on track.

Floridays is right. Please call your doctor. They need to make sure the band is working correctly, if you have been vomiting for years your band might have slipped. Just concerned for you. Take care.

if you are vomiting (and have been) you need to see your lapband doctor so they can advise.

if you let anyone other than your lapband doctor remove saline, i think that is risky. (unless she is trained in doing those type things with lapbands).

why would the dr yell at you? if he or she did, i would suggest finding a new doctor.

you said you eat the wrong things. so stop eating the wrong things. eat the healthy options. 3-4 oz of Protein, veggies and a fruit (but not over a cup at a time). you are hungry because you are either really hungry or its head hunger. only you can make out which is it.

need to honestly make an appt with your lap band doctor and go. on here, this forum, we can say do this or do that, but it boils down to what you want to do.

dont wait

call the dr.

From experience I've learned that being honest with your doctor is the best thing. Tell him of your issues, and together work on a plan. Maybe I'm lucky to have such an involved surgeon, but he told me in the very beginning that he wants to know every little thing because it's all important, so just be honest with him and he will be honest with me. I let him know of my struggles and strong points and we go from there.

First, unless your daughter is trained specifically to do Lap Band fills and unfills with a qualified bariatric surgeon, then absolutely not. She has no business touching your band and you're begging for major problems if she does.

Second, I'm not trying to be harsh, but the doctor being upset with you should be the least of your concerns. If you're vomiting regularly you're at huge risk for a slip. You need to go back and see your surgeon, deal with this head on, and have your band thoroughly checked.

You're playing with your health right now and that's not wise. Get back into your surgeon,

Do not put that on your daughter and potentially have a disaster. Call your doctor. They will work with you.

Sounds like you have soft calorie syndrome from being too tight (or having a lot of inflammation in there from so much vomiting). As you've discovered, that can cause weight gain instead of weight loss, and you're probably hungry because soft and slider foods provide virtually no satiety. So going back to your surgeon, 'fessing up about what's been going on, and getting a small unfill is probably the best course of action.

Under no circumstances should you let anyone not experienced with band fills, least of all your own child, attempt to add or remove saline from your band. Someone without experience in that is too likely to fail to access your port and can puncture your tubing. Also, band fills are done with a special needle, and I'm not telling you what it's called because that's not something your daughter needs to know unless she plans a career in bariatric care.

If your surgeon yells at you, it'll probably be out of sheer frustration that you didn't come back for help earlier. The surgeons I've talked to all hate it when patients are lost to aftercare, because it's impossible for them to help a patient who never comes back for follow-up.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
