Home Equipment?

Recommended Posts

I've started training to run but it hurts my knees so bad! I want to get an elliptical and I'd like to get a weight machine for the home too. There isn't a good gym close by and I don't want an excuse anymore. Any suggestions on home gyms or ellipticals?

Gazelle Edge Trainer

I swear by this machine! Don't worry about the restricted weight usage, It holds me up and I am wayyyyy over the weight limit! This is the best workout without the heavy duty joint impact you feel on all those other machines used at the gym. I have severe arthritis in my left hip, my right hip was totally replaced years ago. So, I would highly recommend this to anyone with any joint pain, replacements, or is limited to doing exercise.

You can find it anywhere, Walmart, target, kmart, etc. .. do a google search for it. It can be found on Walmart.com at $99.00 but currently it is all sold out!! Thats because people everywhere are catching on. Don't worry you will get a good full body work out on this, believe me!!! Read the reviews and see why everyone is hooked!

I have a Total Gym that I love. If you buy a scratch and dent one from website you get newest version ½ price. It took me 6 months to figure out the small imperfection in mine - a scratch, not rip on padding. Love it.

I also have an incline treadmill. I am not always as disiplined on treadmill but love the Total Gym.

I have a treadmill and elliptical from sears. Love both of them. I need diversity and this way I can change it up. I too have bad knees. My treadmill has a flexible walking surface so can adjust the firmness. I also use a exercise ball and free weights.

I have a Gold's gym eliptical from Walmart. It was under $200 (can't remember the exact price). I also have a Bowflex revolution, but do not recommend it if you have financial struggles. Zumba videos also are quite fun even if you don't think you like dancing. I love them.

I love the Total Gym, too. It's actually pretty fun, and even when you're not doing something really hard you are working out. It's weight lifting and card in one.

We have a home gym, treadmill, and elliptical. I love our elliptical, but it was definitely an investment piece at 4500. It is gym quality, and amazing. It is a Precor and would rec

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
