Please help me find a decent low fat butter...

My vote is for the spray butter. I even use it on chops and steaks. It makes them go down real easy.

Butter Buds cannot be beat! You can buy a bottle, or packet in a box. It can't really be used for fat uses, you can't spread it on toast or cook with it, for example, you can't cook eggs with it, but it's made from real butter.

I don't currently have any in my kitchen, but I haven't lived at home for along time, but BABY I'M BACK!!!!! (geeze, my son and husband lived like animals, no canned tomatoes in the place! How can they live like that???)

Hi,

My dietician said it was fine for me to use Brummel and Brown. THere are no trans fats and I think the taste is amazing. Another idea for you...

Try Olivio-it has extra light olive oil-I've even used to make grilled cheese. It is great on mashed potatoes and veggies.

Anybody have any troubles with grits??? I've seen cream of wheat mentioned as ok.

I love brummel and brown yogurt spread. yummy:hungry: . It is low in fat and has a very dairy flavor. Some butter substitutes imo taste really fake to me. Hope I helped:confused:

Well some might think this is totally bad but....

I feel the real stuff is better for you. Fats should be in small doses anyway, so why substitute chemicals for the real thing for like a difference of a few calories. I guess I've never been a big butter/margerine person.

I'm with you Molly. I'd rather have a little bit of butter any day. The I can't believe it's not butter spray though is pretty good. My kids like it better than real butter.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
