To me it sounds like you should have waited. During the psych evaluation it was important to identify that circle of support. It sounds like either you did not do that or did not have a psych evaluation which is troubling.

Anyway, it sounds like you need to make done hard decisions and but out those who are not supportive. You need a positive frame of mind to get through this because this is a major journey in your life and from what I can see, can be life altering.

This is great advice! They have lap band support groups. Look into one! It can't hurt. Best of luck and hang in there. :-)

It's normal to mourn the loss of our favorite foods or alcohol. I was miserable being obese. I felt like the weight was a handicap holding me back from life, having a big full life. I made a list of all the things I was missing out on. As we all know life is very difficult being obese. Today I have a new perspective about food. Those foods that I loved caused me harm and kept me fat, miserable and alone. A piece of cake won't make me happy or bring me joy. Eating clean is an act of self love and I want to start respecting my body instead of stuffing it with food that is harmful to me.

I don't know if its just me or what.I haven't really gave my lapband a second thought. My frame of mind has changed from do I live to eat or do I eat to live.i chose to eat to live.once you break that live to eat mentality you'll be alright. You can still have your fun with foods after you've healed. The feeling you get after you are used to the change is enlightening.

I made the right decision for me. I am thrilled with my lapband, thrilled with the technicians that fill me. They never told me what to lose. My body just lost it. Its definately a mind thing too. Your mind has to be made up that you want to be healthy & eat the right foods. Its work, its following the rules, its not drinking after a meal, which I find isn't easy but i do it! I love being able to wear smaller clothes, more styish clothes, its worth it!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
