Starshine33 38 Posted September 24, 2012 Hey I'm Anna and want to get lap band. I have an appointment tomorrow at Fort Worth Lap-Band here in Texas. My insurance will not cover it, so I will have to finance it my self. I'm 31 and have Rheumatoid and over weight by about 80lbs. I was wondering if anyone here has had RA and had got lap-band? Starshine33 38 Posted September 24, 2012 Glad to hear!! I've been reading on it and it says that persons with autoimmune diseases should not get lap-band. I really want to get it though! Are you on medication for your arthritis?

Starshine33 38 Posted September 25, 2012 I take Enbrel and it wasn't an issue. Good Luck!! Thank you so much!! I haven't told my RA doctor yet. I'm pretty sure she won't like it though. I'm doing it anyways! I will check into Enbrel!

Sphinx 22 Posted October 24, 2012 The PA went through all my meds (and I'm a lot, because I have not just RA, but fibro, interstitial cystitis, and bipolar disorder) and none were a problem. She even told me I could continue to take celebrex, which surprised me, I thought all those sorts of meds were a no-no. I forgot to ask about prednisone though, but I very rarely take it....only when my med starts to fail and I need something short term so I can function. But if I was told I couldn't take it, I'd deal!
