mommy2xp 0 Posted March 26, 2006 Well, I have almost made it to my first fill. Yeah! While I know I wont have my "sweet spot" restriction yet, I am still excited. I have been one of those post-ops that hasn't lost much. I am only down about 5 pounds since surgery. I know it's a bonus, but I have seen others, on the board, lose a lot more since the same week. My questions are about support groups. I am the first lap-band in my area, so at the support groups there is no one ahead of me to blaze the trail. I am in a group with RNY patients. This message board has been the BEST source of information so far. Are there support groups specifically for the first 6 weeks of lap-band in other areas? It seems that there is a lot of frustration in the first six weeks. For me, the gap between week 4 to 6 I have felt in limbo. How often have you been seen by your surgeon since surgery? I have had one surgery follow-up one week after surgery. Are you in a lap-band support group or with RNY patients? Thanks for your answers and your support! DonnaB 3 Posted March 26, 2006 I had surgery in Mexico so I haven't seen my surgeon since post-op day 2. My support group is right here on LBT. Sorry my reply isn't going to be much help. Did you check out the state forums down near the bottom of the LBT home page? That's the best I've got for you except to say you've got a bunch of people here who are more than ready to support you, just say the word. Good luck on your weight loss journey. Anwyn 0 Posted March 26, 2006 I'm in the same boat. My hospital offers a support group, but they're 99% RNY'ers and it's an hour away. I like Donna's advice - post a new thread in your states' section and you may find some support groups close to home. The first 6 weeks post-op are bar none the most difficult. We have this surgery and then... nothing. You heal up and have no restriction and it's like nothing ever happened. It's anti-climactic and frustrating, especially when the hunger comes rolling back. Hang in there! You've almost made it through. And remember, there's nothing saying you won't hit your sweet spot with your first fill - it happens for some of us.
