Is it the same woman?

Dutch, I thought the thread was deleted. After some careful questioning I think we realized the quality of the poster.

For someone who has no money, that ebay person sure likes to buy stuff.

Thanks Tricia,

It just might be the same lady..... I am speechless on the 4 pages of dialog that went on. Raw emotion. She got mad when you wanted more information..... red flag, something not right there.

Upon further investigation..... the Shakeerah from LBT is age 23 and the Ebay seller is age 40. Are they the same person?

rid the world of a fat person.
Now there's a nice thing to say. :yell:

Look at the items the person has bought. Vacations, imported leather bags... I don't feel too bad for him/her in their story that they can't afford the procedure.

HUMMMMMMMMMMM I would love to have the LB also however my insurance doesnt cover it either.......I have no clue how someone could submit something like this for the world to see. Guess maybe I have a little more pride in myself. I know each person is an individual.....but...To me it is too much like Begging for everyone to help her. I agree with a post on the other thread that was going on that if she wants it that bad to solicit Clinics and see if anyone would agree to do it for free. I will just continue to save little by little til I have enough or my insurance decides to pay for it. Sorry just my two cents and had to vent!

You're very welcome. I found Shakeerah's begging and this ebay listing to be absurd. Some people have no shame and will do anything.

Hmmm.

My problem is this person that is desperate for LapBand surgery also just received a Negative Feedback just over a month ago- for not paying on a Vegas trip they bid on and won. You can see that here.

So you're desperate to have LapBand surgery but you have money to bid on trips to Vegas (not business trips, pure vacation).

Sorry, no sale.

If you look at this link you can see the other things this person has bid on and won.

This includes a set of collectible Absinthe liquor decanters for $56 and other junk.

In other words, they have money for Vegas trips & liquor decanters but not for LapBanding? They'd rather get donations and let us pay for what they need, so they can keep paying for what they like (like Vegas vacations?)

Sorry to sound so cynical but it's just tacky, in my opinion.

Grrrr, people lie that are so irritating!:)

Happy Band Journeys to all...

I just want to state that I admire her confidence to have the guts to post something so outrageous and that if someone actually pays for her surgery, I will be the first to admit that I'm jealous and why didn't I think of it first tee-hee! :faint:

This is your chance to make history
rid the world of a fat person
My loss will be your gain

Hahahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahha, this woman is hilarious. If somebody is kind hearted and wondering what to do with the money then he/she would send the 10k to Africa to stop children's death due to malnutrition. Not to stop a fat lady from eating too much

I don't think that this is the same lady. Remember Shakeerah was only about 21? and still lived with her mom? This lady is 40! Still, I can't believe that someone would do that!

I saw this on ebay as well after I saw the thread about someone selling an expired lap band on eBay. I was curious, LOL. I was going to post it but you beat me to it. All I can say is that you can sell anything including your boss on ebay, I have seen it, LOLOLOL. If anything, I just hope she is sincere.

I wonder how doing this makes history? I guess to be the first person who paid for someone's surgery through ebay? I would never have the courage to do anything like that, but if I did, it would be along the lines of an ebay post for a $20 donation or something. I have seen that before, but I've never seen someone flat out ask for that much money.

Despiration comes in all forms and flavors, but I think some people go a little far, you know?

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
