Sojourner 2,446 Posted September 24, 2012 I remember being advised pre op to never eat meals anywhere but at the table...sitting in a chair using good posture, and no TV or other distractions. When my husband is here...and there's no football game on, no problem. When by myself (the majority of my meals) I'm usually in one of the recliners reading my latest book. Well, I've often written that we can't be expected to comply 100% of the time... can we??? 3 Maddysgram, 2muchfun and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

Sojourner 2,446 Posted September 24, 2012 LOL, say it ain't so, SOJO??? TRUE!!!! I cannot tell a lie...and I know you are at that table, in that chair, with good posture, counting how many times you have chewed that mouthful!! You're going to be the best prepared pre op patient there ever was or will be!! 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and Maddysgram reacted to this

brlgirl 112 Posted September 24, 2012 I think this is kinda funny...I mean our drs/nurse practioners tell us to wait at least a minute between bites, chew, chew, chew and not to do anyting during the meal (no books, tv, computer, etc). I don't know about anyone else, but I am more likely to successfully wait between bites and chew, chew, chew when I have something to keep my mind busy. If I am sitting there looking at my plate and waiting I am more likely to eat more and faster. I honestly think that this is one of those situations when the "professionals" can tell us what they think but it should be left to us...we are the ones doing it everyday. 2 meyouus and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
honk 780 Posted September 28, 2012 They say not to eat in front of the TV because you loose track of how much you are eating; and eat to much. Since I premeasure before I sit down there isn't excess food left for me to eat. 2 meyouus and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
