Was I Wrong???!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Today is day 3 of solids, so on my first day of solid food I had eggs, I know this is something that I maybe could have had on soft foods but I'm either scared or nervous of getting too full or throwing up!!! Well today my fam and I were running around and they got hungry I wanted to wait and come home to eat but just as the non lap band needers that they are they want to go out and eat. So they decided on pei Wei and I love me some Asian food so without major hesitation I agreed to take them since they have been hostage to my preop diets and now it's week 4!! So tell me if I messed up please!!! I don't feel I did but let me tell ya what I ordered, got the orange peel chicken and brown rice!! I actually only had about 4 small pieces of chicken off the plate and after chewing for so long I felt full. I also ate a few of the veggies that came with it...... I'm down a total of 42lbs I just want to keep losing and do right!!!!

well yes and no (but this is only my opinion)

you really should follow the doctors orders in regards to eating so you can heal but you ate what you did

and its most likely already gone..i like that the chicken was ate as that is Protein but def could have done better without the rice and well we wont talk about the sodium...but that is just me. you were recently banded and still are healing inside. i am sure you are okay.

stressing about it now wont solve anything.

just continue on your path and keep up the great work :)

It depends on what YOUR post-op diet instructions are. When I was returned to solids, it was as tolerated. chicken and brown rice are not a crime on my diet. I can't eat breast meat chicken, but dark meat chicken is fine.

If your doctor said to eat solids as you can tolerate them, then there was no crime committed, was there? When introducing foods back into your diet, go slowly. Small bites, chew well, wait in between bites to be certain they've gone down. Evaluate often to see if you are still hungry before continuing.

You are on solids therefore I can see no problem with eating chicken and rice. It is as you have discovered a learning curve to work out what foods work for you and how to eat them etc. It is important that you can fit your diet requirements in around a normal life.

There is nothing wrong with rice in small quantities and the fact that you chose brown rice was pretty healthy.I don't see why there should be an issue

I also agree that if you're back on solids as tolerated, you did nothing wrong. You had Protein, brown rice, and veggies. It sounds like you had a small portion, too.

btw, congratulations on the 42 pounds loss so far!

Thank you!!!!!!! I think it was just the scare of messing up so early in my process, the fact of the matter I only ate chicken until I felt full and didn't have any rice, did have a few veggies but at the end of the meal, my to go box got most of it!!!! I really appreciate the support on this site I'm a newbie for reals and it's a learning process. Just a lot of the suff I read is scary sometimes.......I'd consider myself a tough guy, but best believe my booth was the closest to the restrooms just in case!!! Lol thanks again guys....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
