Just curious. I am to get my first fill on Monday. I have an 11cc band and the suggested amount is 5cc's isn't that a lot? I mean that's half the band? I may suggest 3 but I don't know? Why was the average of everyone's first band fill and here's the big question how much weight did everyone loose before there second one ?

Thanks!

I have an 11cc band and my surgeon put 5cc in at my first fill. Honestly, it's fine. It isn't going to be as full as you think.

I had my first fill yesterday. My surgeon does a group info session with the first fill. All fills in my office are done under flouroscope, and we had to drink a small amount of barium. The fill amount was determined by how quickly they saw the barium go through the band. In our group the fill amount ranged from 1cc to 3cc...mine was 3cc.

My first fill (almost 3 yrs ago) was 5cc in a 14cc band. Didn't feel a thing till my 3rd fill (2nd one was 6 weeks after the first and 2cc). My 3rd fill was the magic one and it was 1cc (for a total of 8cc). My dr only does them 6 weeks apart, no sooner. I ate like normal till I finally got restriction on my 3rd fill. I don't recommend that (if I were to do it again, I'd follow the rules of measuring).

So 5cc isn't too far off. My band is a bit bigger than yours, but there's alot of people who got a 5cc fill in a 11cc band. The more fills you get, the less amt of Fluid they will put in. After almost 3 yrs and many fills/unfills, I now have about 9cc in my band. Think I'm good where I am for a while.

God luck!

Thanks everyone, I'm very curious knowing and getting the weightless started!

I had a bad experience with the nurse who was supposed to give me my first fill last Wednesday. I was poked 4 times and no fill due to the fact she could find the middle of the port! Needless to say I'm excited to see my surgeon Monday! Weightless here we come!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
