Hey all. I was banded in April of this year and I recently tried to eat some carrots. They did not sit well. Are all hard veggies hard to handle. What are some that yall eat? Thanks in advance

Can't eat baby carrots plain. I can eat shredded or cut up ones though. All other veggies are fine.

Everyone is different regarding food tolerances...I was also banded in April, and am able to eat all vegetables, whether they are cooked or raw...even raw carrots.

I stay aware to take super small bites, chew very thoroughly, and take pauses between bites.

Learning the "personality" of your band is a trial and error process...I'm still learning.

Carrots got me too. That was the first time I had to vomit after being banded, it scared me to death and I left them alone. I can eat them now without a problem. Maybe you should just give it some time.

Carrots cooked generally go down fine - raw carrots can be a problem. They can be hard to chew enough and sometimes a piece can inadvertently slip past before you have finished chewing. As they do not break down they are a major cause of blockages. For that reason it is safer to shred/grate them before eating if you choose to have them raw.

Celery can be a problem too as it is really fibrous.

Sweetcorn used to be really uncomfortable for me but now I can eat it easily.

It just seems to depend on the day and the veg. I have had issues with slowcooked onions, broccoli ,spinach, lettuce. The thing is to not let 1 bad experience put you off eating something. If I did that I would be very limited in what I eat but I always give foods a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th............ chance. Sometimes it is the food that is the problem, sometimes it is the way I have eaten or cooked it and sometimes it was just an off day.

It is all a process of trial and error.

Thank you all for the information. I think I will try them again when I get the nerve up....just kinda scared me the way that I felt after I ate them.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
