My Thyroid Level May Cause Insurance Denial

Recommended Posts

Although my TSH level is only slightly elevated, 5.06, the insurance coordinator has said she has seen the insurance company deny approval. I guess they use the excuse that the slightly off level indicates I could lose the weight without surgery if only I had a normal thyroid.

I am now on medication with a date set for 10/15. Does anyone else have experience with trying to quickly ge their thyroid under control?

I have an under active thyroid, and they had me re-do the blood work 6 weeks afterwards to see if there were any changes. To this day they have to adjust my dosage. It's been 2 years since I have been on Synthroid.

My insurance approved me b/c even after getting it under control I had hard time losing weight.

I also have to take Synthroid. I have been on it for years... playing with the doses, it never equals to me losing weight though. I am on a rather good dose now, so my numbers come up ok on a blood test, but I am not losing anything
