Banded, Discouraged And Lost

Recommended Posts

Hello All!

I'm new to LBT.com but have had my band almost a year and a half. Right after surgery the weight loss was great then everything came to a screeching halt. I get fills currently 5cc's in a 10cc band. After my fills I don't feel any different, why? I want to have the success I see others have. This is the hardest thing I have ever done. SO, this is my "re-start" I'm heading back to my doc after being so discouraged and giving up. I need this to work! I need to get back to that " I want this so bad feeling" we all have pre-op. How have you gotten over your struggles????

Don't get discouraged... 5 CC is only half of what your band can hold.... Maybe you need 6, 7, or even 8 cc to get you there. Good luck!

It took me a little over 6 cc's to get decent restriction. I still have to watch WHAT I eat though! Seems like the very worst things are the easiest going down!!! Protein, protein, protein!

I was very discouraged. My insurance paid fir my surgery then I moved and my new insurance did nt cover the fills and on a one budget income I could not afford them. Then I buckled down and started saving for them. I just got my 3rd one a couple of weeks ago and I am finally feeling the real restriction. I know I am very close if not at my green zone, and its taken 7 cc's. I finally see my scale going backwards after almost a year of being banded. You went thru so much to get here, dont give up! 5 cc's is not alot. You should see a difference with a couple more fills

I find myself still having those cravings that I have always has. I stopped losing weight, and am really bummed. I feel like I even screwed this up. Leave it to me to cheat a band!!!! I need that restart, too.

Let's do this togeather!!!! The only thing stopping me is "me" the only thing stopping you is "you". I need this to work so I will keep working on me. *HUGS* we can do it if we want it bad enough.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
