When it comes to shakes everyone has different tastes, so my advise is start trying different ones and see which you like. I have both powder and pre made shakes in my pantry. I like the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury powder shakes. You get them online at www.unjury.com, they have a sample pack of all their flavors. As for pre made I drink Atkins Advantage or EAS low carbs. Now is the best time to try different ones and figure out which you like and which hubby likes (might be different).

As for other items for the liquid diet. Stock up on sugar free popsicles and your favorite Soups. Some people made their own broths before hand and froze them others likes the Chinese restaurant Soups, they would strain the soups so it was just the broth. I like V8 so I had that.

Good luck to both of you, keep us posted on your journey.

Welcome to the forum! I was one of the lucky ones and not required to do the pre-op shakes. I have been testing a lot out for post-op (Oct.15). I like Pure Protein b/c it comes in single serving cans and I can grab and go in the morning. I also have some other brands but have not tried them yet.

It must be nice to have someone going through this journey with you and understand exactly what you're going through.

I hope you continue on this forum you will learn a lot about how the band works and doesn't work . See a lot of success story's and get a lot of support.

Best Wishes on your journey

Welcome !!

I didn't have to do the pre-op diet and only tired Protein shakes for 3 days during the first week... they were really bad.

I've met some really great people here and learned a lot in the 6 years I've been here.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions or I'd be happy to call you... I have free long distance.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
