no' date=' because i was swollen from surgery.

i followed my dr's and nutritionists instructions to the letter, as i am now[/quote']

I'm trying to understand.... So your stomach being swollen didnt allow u to drink/sip.. did u feel a restriction? Or u didn't have a desire to drink.

i sipped and i sipped for2 weeks...if i pushed it, i would get sick to my stomach, one time and i never did it again.

it was clearly (a sensation of what restriction could feel like)

i got full on a couple sips. now, just over 3 months out, 4 oz fills me up like at thanksgiving

yes, because of all i did to have surgery

why in the world would i mess it up by over eating/drinking shortly after surgery..major surgery.all dr's are different. more concerned with this persons health and not wanting them or anyone to rush

allow your body to heal and rest...i mean no harm or disrespect to anyone (cept mad :o )

The reason you do not feel hungry or thirsty is because your stomach is still swollen from the surgery. I somedays I have a hard time with tuna and I have been banded for 7 months (band being tight somedays). My advice is 1 call your doctor and tell him your concerns and 2 eat only 1 cup per meal, slowly, and drink slowly. The eating habit is a learning process. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Take care & good luck.

Ok. Got you. I haven't felt the "sensation" yet. I sip down broth, Jello sugar free popsicle and just added Protein drink to the day. I haven't felt hungry. I eat something because I know I have to. I haven't felt a thanksgiving full either. I've been content really since surgery.

if you are hungry, that is normal. those Protein shakes were my food until my insides healed

the more i healed, the hunger came back

as ajtex said, just because we can eat/drink more than we should, doesnt mean we should

Of course I'm not trying to mess it up. That's why I haven't pushed myself to the point to feel anything bad. I don't want to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
