I had my surgery on Monday. So happy the day finally came and gone. I've been on liquids and just tried tuna fish salad today went down ok. And had a little egg salad. I drink normal. I try to sip at least I was with the broth. But after do a little work out reaching for Water old habits I drink it down. I'm confused with how I should feel. Because I don't feel anything. I don't feel hungry. I eat or sip to stay hydrated. Ive trained myself not to eat when I'm not hungry so its hard to eat now because I don't feel hungry at all. Not even thirsty. I'm so afraid to throw up so I'm really paying attention to how my body reacts. If it weren't for the scars and soreness I wouldn't think that the band is on.

A question, did your Dr give you a diet to follow or are you winging it?

very very surprised you are eating foods so soon after surgery, i was on 2 week liquids after surgery.

i advise you to go slow and let your insides heal. once you start healing, you will start to get hungry

congrats on your surgery.

Maddysgram is correct...it all begins with your surgeon's instructions for post op care. What were those instructions?

Post op is your time to be healing, and allowing your tissues near the band to adjust to the band. I seems that you are trying to eat real food way too soon.

Try to break the habit of "drinking" anything...and learn to sip everything liquid.

If you eat food too soon post op, you risk harming the stitches and the band placement.

Like CG said, were you given a food plan from your surgeon/nutrionist? That is just odd to be putting actual food in your new stomache just days out of surgery. I had to wait 3 weeks before I was able to put any food in my mouth, but I know all surgeons have different plans....

again, if you are on liquids, you wont or shouldnt get stuck..and you can help with not vomiting by sipping and not drinking/gulping your liquids. please go slow and let yourself heal. hang in there and congrats on your surgery

Yes Ive had classes with a nutritionist. And done homework online. I know every one's body is different so the time frame would be different. I'm 6'1 now at 311 started at 345 before the pre op diet. They said i would be too sore to hold a gallon of milk but I'm able to without a prob. Now I would consider myself in the puree stage. But I'm not feeling hungry, so its hard to feel full. I don't want to push it because I don't want to throw up.

in all honesty and i dont mean to be rude, but researching online is different than following your dr's instructions.

i was lucky to get down 24 oz in an entire day 4 days after surgery like you. i didnt not hit puree til 3 weeks out. but if our dr says its ok, all the best to you. but seriously, i think you are rushing it. just take care of yourself. that is what matters

fyi--((eating too much or too quick or too big of bites will make you throw up, am sure the nutritionist/surgeon told you))

Could u not get down 24 ounces because of pain or what? The tuna I ate was mush and I chewed it. And egg salad was safe for a baby.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
