Can you have juices on the pre-op diet? I juice most mornings -spinache, apple, carrot, ginger etc.. I hats the thought of just protien shakes and want real fresh food / liquids.< /p>

Sorry, most doctors would say no. Remember juice is all carbs and the most preop diets try to eliminate most carbs. You want to force your body to burn fat. It prefers to burn carbs first, Protein, then fat. If you are eating mostly Protein the body is forced to after it burns the protein to turn to fat.

Also post op most doctors don't want you drinking calories. The band will never stop you from drinking calories. The entire point of the band is to help you eat less solids.

The answer is "no"...my nutritionist referred to juices of all varieties as liquid carbs...a slider if ever there was one.

The bandster diet requires one to get their calories from healthy solid food choices, and as Honk shared we are discouraged from drinking any calories.

The only liquid calories I have these days are an occasional Protein shake when I have missed reaching my Protein grams for the day.

My doc discouraged, but said if I do drink juice to dilute it half & half with Water. I try to stay away from it because it makes my sugar to high
