Did your doc give you prescription pain meds?

Your only two days out so your not supposed to be feeling great! (trust me- been there done that) Use this time to get used to the new feelings of hunger/fullness/gas etc. and just take it easy for another few days.

Drink Water and keep yourself hydrated

I was banded October 11th. I didn't experience pain, I was uncomfortable for about 5 days. The gas causes the most discomfort so you have to keep moving. I walked from my living room to my kitchen every hour the first day, then I added short walks outside. The more you move the better. It gets better everyday, but you can't sit still you have to move that gas. In regards to eating, I sipped broth, Jello, protein shakes, Water, etc... You should follow the diet your doctor gave you. Take one day at a time. You can get through this! Think of the positive outcome. Good luck to you!

Everyone heals differently, just take care of yourself, follow your dr's instructions and don't be afraid to take your pain meds and keep ahead of the pain. Stay hydrated, move around and eat small 3oz portions every 3-4 hrs.

I was banded on the 17th and am lucky that I didn't have pain (tightness and a bit of ache when I burb), didn't have gas (inside, outside burping and farting is a whole different story) and am moving pretty well. We are all different.

Take care of yourself and congrats on your surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
