Hi! I am new to this forum, and the process. I just had my consult yesterday, and quite honestly, i didnt want the band. I went into it knowing i wanted bypass, but because of my anemia, and MS, he said he wouldnt do it. He recommended lap band . I was disappointed, but

after talking with him, and researching a bit. I am excited! I realize this is the best choice for me

The process seems different compared to what i see others post about. I have to do all of those pre appts/ tests, but it seems AFTER the sx is approved.

I've never heard of the approval process working like that?? Where do u live?

I also wanted a gastric bypass but was told I was not a candidate because of some medial issues. A lapband was recommended. I had surgery on August 20 and my 1st fill is scheduled for Oct.3. Like you, I had to wrap my head around the lapband. I had some post-op pain management issues that are now resolved, plus I have on-going hunger issues that other members tell me will resolve as I beging the fill process. I wish you luck.

IL and i have bcbs, so they dont have many prerequisites.
