Crankiness?

Recommended Posts

Is it just me, but has anyone noticed you are more irritated or cranky when eating the low carb? I'm only supposed to have up to 60 carbs a day, which I keep to and I suppose that falls in the low category, but not sure what my deal is. It may just be my job, lol

So, I just posted a topic on carbs a few minutes ago. Wondering if it would help me take off the last 15 lbs if I lo carbed it. My husband keeps to less than 20 a day. You can have up to 60? I don't know much about lo carb diets, I've lost 100 lbs by eating whatever I wanted, just much, much less of it. But these last 15 lbs won't budge. My husband has lost 80 lbs doing the low carb thing (he tries to stick to less than 20 gms a day tho). But about twice a month, he gives in and eats a whole 1/2 gallon of ice cream. That's what I'm afraid will happen if I give up carbs - I'll eat too many when my cravinggives in.

Where did you learn about the lo carb diet? I'm not real big fan of Dr Atkins. Thanks!

Marci

Hi Marfar, this guideline came from my nutritionist. They want me to do 60+ Protein a day, 25-35 fat, and 60 or less carbs, and I'm not supposed to count calories, but when you journal, you see them :). I have been consistently losing weight averaging about 2 lbs a week. I am a carb lover, but to tell you the truth, when I do this amount, I don't crave them like I used to and I don't crave the sweets, it amazes me. Give it a go and see if it works for those last 15. I know some people on here don't do the low carb, but it seems to work for the time being.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
