I had my lap band done on 9/13/12, it's been 6 days and for the most part everything seems to be going well. I made it past the "clear liquid" stage and I'm 3 days into the "full liquid". Usually after Breakfast, (cream of wheat) I get a feeling of pressure and it pretty much ruins my day. Anyone else have this problem?

I had cream of wheat and oatmeal on my meal plan after surgery and my surgeon caught the error and said carb items are not allowed on the liquid diet because it swells in your pouch and will cause disconfort. I would discontinue that and just stick with the shakes because the shakes alone will make you feel stuff so the cream of wheat will only make you feel worse. Worth a try. You don't want to stretch your pouch. You could always do a sugar free popsicles.

I never thought about that, thanks for the info! I'm willing to try just about anything at this point. My first appt is Friday morning but I wanted to nip it before I got there. Thanks again :)

Hi kritta, I had mine done on Sept 13 too! I have started to have thin Soups but no cram of wheat etc yet. My doc said the yogurt drinks are also a good option and I enjoy them over ice slowly. I hope that steering away from it might help. I feel terrific and I'm down 12 lbs already with little hunger. How is your appetite?

Congrats on your band! I haven't really been hungry or craving food, even when my boyfriend ate Wendy's for dinner the day of my surgery! U try and stick to at least 5 meals a day, and it seems that just about a cup of whatever I'm eating fills me up. I started on whey Protein Shakes today and those were awesome!! Good luck with your band and continued weight loss!!! :)

I'm a 9-14 bandster and still just anxious about this whole thing. After some M of M I finally went to the bathroom so I feel much better about that! I'm not hungry(which is great) . I can't seem to get in 64 oz of liquids in a day. I'm assuming that this will change before my first fill. I can't imagine getting a fill and eating less than I do now!! Everyday I feel a little stronger. One day at a time is what I'm trying to focus on. I appreciate everyone's post!! I really helps me to read them :) Best of luck to you all!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
