Stuck At This Weight!

Recommended Posts

I am officially depressed! I had my surgery on the 2nd of July and starting weight was 100kg now I am 84kg! Which is great! I am very grateful for the weightloss! :) i exercise everyday for an hour and change my exercises, I eat 800-1200 a day! No carbs! I dont eat more than a cup! And I have been stuck in this weight since beginning of September! I don't know what to do? I called the doctors and he told me break my food down to small portions I have done so but still no weight loss! I am very demotivated, all the hard work and time I put in exercising goes to waste! :(

I don't know what I should do! At the start i thought this is because I ate too little so I increased my calorie intake but still no change! :( I am very frustrated and upset because of it ! I am not losing weight even though I am doing everything right! This is discouraging! Where does all the exercise I do go?!!!

What shall I do?!!!!! 

First, relax! Remember we're in a marathon, not a sprint. We've all been there. Early in the journey the body takes a while to adjust to the new lifestyle. It's not uncommon to go several weeks with little change and suddenly drop five pounds. In my experience even when the scale doesn't move I'm losing inches. The way your clothes fit is a much better indicator of progress than the number on your scale. If you stay the course and keep doing what you're doing, you'll soon see results on the scale. The biggest battles are in the mind, so don't give up!

Yes totally understand, first the biggest thing I've learned with being banded is patience. Something I don't have very often :) but it's true it works on its time and very different for all. I was banded 6/26/12 and I am down 43 lbs but it has been a struggle. I am like u I exercise like crazy, hit the gym everyday sometimes twice a day. I find that I lose increments of 8 to 10 lbs. So like 2 weeks ago I lost 2 lbs everyday for a week then boom nothing for 2 weeks or more. Best of luck

None of the efforts you are making to comply with your diet and exercise routine is time wasted...you have made progress towards your weight loss goals. Give yourself deserved credit for what you have achieved.

We do hit weight loss plateaus from time to time...and yes, it can be extremely frustrating. Your body can become adjusted to a routine of expected type and intensity of exercise and the number of calories you have every day.

Mis73 reported successful results with moving beyond her plateaus with changing up her exercise and the number of calories she had for a few days.

As mentioned previously, this journey is a process and not an event. I've had to develop authentic patience, a life skill which eluded me for years.

Stay the course, continue to be compliant with diet and exercise, and stay focused on your goals. The weight will come off.

Best wishes...

Have you tried a liquid diet for 2 or 3 days? Do Soups and Protein Shakes and nothing else for 2 or 3 days ... sometimes that helps to break the plateau.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
