Quick Question

Recommended Posts

It's because caffeine dehydrates you (as does alcohol of course) and with a limited intake of fluids and foods, you need to use everything you're taking in hydration wise.

all doctors are different. some say you can have some (only in moderation)

some say sure its not a problem (some like mine prefer me not to have any).

so on my pre op, i was de-caffiened) and since surgery, i now drink half Decaf coffee and (occasional half sweet/half unsweet tea). it doesnt bother or affect me too much. but i find i dont miss it. i guess if you want to know why your doctor said no caf, just ask him or the nurse and have them tell you the reasons why.

have a great day. :)

Mine said no carbonation, but didn't even mention caffeine. Regardless, since surgery Water has become my beverage of choice!!

I was told because it was a diuretic it will aide in dehydration. For every cup of coffee you drink you need to drink an extra glass of Water.

Every doctor has a different thought on this subject. I drink regular coffee.... every day. I was told no pre-op but they (dr/nut) seem to be ok with it now?

My surgeon advised no caffeine, as historically it is known as a stomach irritant. Nothing was mentioned to me about it also being a diuretic.

That said...I do continue to drink 1 glass of caffeinated iced coffee every day. I also have 80+ oz of Water every day, so I have not experienced any negative side effects.
