marfar7 1,533 Posted September 18, 2012 I wasn't required to diet pre-op. In fact, I had my "last meal" the nite before surgery (Outback ribs!). But I was on a liquid diet for 4 weeks postop and that was the hardest thing to do. But we all do it. You can do it! Good luck! wildrose1966 396 Posted September 18, 2012 What is your pre op diet?
Rojasanoll 920 Posted September 18, 2012 Be positive and think of a skinny you! Its all about YOU and your health. The insurance is paying a big bill now do your part and be tough. I drank Protein drinks for Breakfast and lunch, then at dinner a big salad with a broiled chicken breast with oil and vinegar. Did this for 17 days. Keep the faith! 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and vmarlau reacted to this

HELP!!! yes its hard i had to so 2 week pre and post op liquids, so i know what you are going through dont cheat as you are only hurting yourself. you may get responses from people saying its ok and it dont matter but you know what, it does matter. eating before you suppose to after surgery could harm you so get into that mental frame of mind now for me, the first 4 or 5 days was the hardest and then it wasnt so bad. if you want to do this, you can. 2 Spaness2012 and vmarlau reacted to this

Wendy0513 38 Posted September 18, 2012 It'll get easier! The hardest days for me were the two clear liquid only days right before the surgery. I was so hungry & cranky but it's all worth it! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
vmarlau 207 Posted September 19, 2012 That's great!!! What changed with your ins plan? What's your diet? I have an umbilical hernia .... So my insurance is paying for the most expensive stufff I'm only paying for the band I'm having the hernia n band surgery at the same time... Spaness2012 609 Posted September 19, 2012 I am on Day 7 of a 10 day liquid diet (protein shakes). It is pretty hard but I agree with the above. I don't feel as much angst as I did the first 4 days or so. Also, I understand the importance of the diet physically and mentally. I have not had a bite of food for 7 days. This is a clear message on how little I really need to survive. Good luck on your surgery. Mine is scheduled for 09/27!! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Lana08 37 Posted September 19, 2012 I'm on my second week my surgery is next Wed Sept 26th I am struggling part of me knows there are certain things I won't be able to enjoy after for a while so I'm fighting with my will power now to stay true to the diet but it's so hard!! 1 vmarlau reacted to this
wildrose1966 396 Posted September 19, 2012 I did 14 days, 4 shakes a day......extra cold, blended with ice and drank thru a straw made it bearable. I added instant coffee to the vanilla ones and many others have used flavors from starbucks etc. Good luck.

I'm on Protein Shakes Great to hear that they will cover this even though you don't have hiatal hernia. Keep yourself busy and drink plenty of Water. Anytime you crave food, chew gum! 1 vmarlau reacted to this
SAS1 7 Posted September 19, 2012 My Pre op diet is all food & no shakes, 2 carb choices per day only: like 2 baby potatoes and 3 tablespoons of Cereal, 3 fruit & veg a day like 1 large banana and one small bowl of salad and 1 of veg, 2-3 choices of Protein per day like 2-3 oz meat or 2 eggs or 5 oz tuna plus one diet yogurt. All seems so simple! I have my op on Oct 22 and I already feeling ok on this diet. Post op also starts straight on sloppy foods, but I'll have to wait and see if those suit me! Good luck everyone ???ƒ 1 vmarlau reacted to this
