May 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

I get my band on Tues.!! I'm not nervous yet just excited! I have to work my part time job all week-end and then last day of school MOn, the part time again on Mon evening. Surgery at 8:00 on Tues. moning. There isn't any time to get nervous... also no time to grocery shop. I don't have all my liquids ready to go yet. Guess I'll have to do that tomorrow after 6. I'm getting banded by Dr. Colquitt in Maryville, Tn at the Blount Memorial Hospital.

hello everybody, i just got back from mexico from having surgery with dr rumbaut on may 11th. many people were there at the same time from the states. i lost 21.5 lbs in 10 days on the liquid diet (last 3 days of that were clear liquids). had several minor problems (none of them medical),with hotel, etc., but overall was good. dr r. and staff are very good, friendly, and kind. nursing care at hosp. could have been better though. now i have 3 weeks of full liquids ahead of me, then soft foods.

i am glad to be back home and enjoyed looking over the posts i missed while gone. good luck to all may bandsters!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Hey babyjane are you from the northwest?? My wife and I were both banded the 11th by Dr. Rumbaut. We are having good results. Good luck!!!!

Good luck to all those who are getting bands this week!! I'm doing pretty well on my liquids. I had 1/2 a pickle, that's been my cheat. I'm a little hungry, but I know it's for a good cause.

Hey Merry May'ers!

I had a huge NSV this weekend...

I saw friends I haven't seen since about a month before surgery. When I got out of the car at their house, one of the folks said...

"Oh my! Your face is getting skinny!"

Yes, I'm glowing....

Laura Par - NSV = Non-scale victory. I.e. old clothes now fit. Someone didn't recognize you. An unexpected compliment. You can walk farther, etc.

NSV is a non surgical victory. Smaller size, loose rings, crossing your legs. Perks from losing weight.

Heresdeb,

I would definately call my doctor, or of your surgeon isn't local, call your primary care and make an appointment. You might just be experiencing gas, but, that shouldn't make you short of breath.

A pulmonary infection can be treated pretty easily, but, you can do serious damage to your lungs if you have one and don't get it treated. GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!!!!!!

I've tried very hard to build my success with this around the non-scale stuff. If I get caught up in what the number says on the scale, I freak out. I'm trying very hard to be healthy in all ways...mentally, physically and so forth. Having old clothes fit, having someone compliment how my face is thinning, being able to be more active, etc are the most important things to me.

Takin' it one day at a time....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      3. buildabetteranna

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
