Good luck to all of those being banded this week. My thoughts and prayers go out to you!

thanks for the head's up and sending me to this posting....WOW....so many May bandsters! And I am really impressed with you posting on the same day you had your surgery! You're one tough woman!

(hmmm....I had all natural childbirth with my kids....so I guess this should go well ....except the older I get...the more wussy I seem to be)

But this thread is really encouraging....!!!!

Add me to Tuesday, May 23rd for my banding....and hopefully...all will go smoothly.

Thanks...and hope to be hearing from many of you over these coming days....and that you all stick to successful life changes.

Warm wishes....Diane : )

Hi Everyone. Just wanted to say I'm finally up to posting again. Had surgery on Wed May 17, actually had a tubal along with the lap band. Nurses said I had a "double whammy". Woohoo.. It's finally over. I'm doing great. Only problem is acid reflux or I think that is what it is. I'm on Clear Liquids for a week then full liquids for 2 weeks, then on to mushies. I've not been hungry at all. Have to make myself drink the broth. Any suggestions on the acid reflux, is this normal? Thanks for all the helpful advice. Good luck to all the bandsters getting banded tomorrow. God

Bless you all..

Michelle :) :clap2: :clap2: :)

Well, I'm three days out and can hardly wait until tomorrow when I get to start my 'pour off the spoon' eating. I went to the store and purchased sugarfree pudding, apple sauce, Tomato Soup, and yogurt. I haven't felt any hunger pains. Tonight I tried playing my flute for our church service and boy was it hard. It was hard to get in a big enough breath without feeling a bit dizzy. Any advice I can offer is to take it easy. Do what you can, and certainly don't over do anything. Best wishes to all of this weeks bandsters. It won't be long and it will be June and we will all be on the other side!

LindaV ~ YEAH!! Good for you!! I predict more movies in your future. :)

Hi Diane ~ I am so thrilled we are going to be May bandsters!! I will be praying for you on Tues. I'm sure you'll come through with flying colors!! Have you checked out the thread to the shopping list? http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=14814 I found it very helpful and think I have everything I need in the house.

Michelle ~ I am preband so I'm not sure about the reflux thing. I do know I've read where some bandsters take the Prilosec OTC. Also, have you tried the GasX? Good luck and I hope you are able to get rid of that quickly.

Well, I'm three days out and can hardly wait until tomorrow when I get to start my 'pour off the spoon' eating.

That's a good way to put it!! :hungry: You are a brave woman to try the flute....your surgeon would be proud.:)

we meet again in da 'boards!

Time is nearing......but this is all exciting......Us May bandsters will need to have a 3, 6, 9 and 12 month reunion! To share and encourage each other!!!!

That would be August, November, February and of course May.

3Lov's hey....I told him jokingly that if he wants me to sign anything.....then I will have a paper for him to sign as well......he rolled his eyes and never mentioned it further. (hmmm.....do ya think he might have thought I meant a divorce paper? ...LOL...well...I say...let him sweat it a bit....!!!!)

Big smiles to all....and there are sooooo many of you here....it will take me a while to learn all the names.....but I am sure that many of you will soon be near and dear to my heart. You are all so kind.

hugs,

Diane : )

UPDATE - three days post op

Haven't been able to drink much of anything cause the ET tube irritated my throat and I have been coughing up junk that has filled my little belly. Sorry if TMI.

So I have only been able to drink skim milk with hersey's chocolate in it. Not something I normally would drink. But hey it's thin and has Protein. So much for agonizing over what to buy to drink the first few days.

Showered last night, got dressed today and ready to roll.

Diane ~ Way to go on the paper thing.....I bet he is wondering!!:) Thinking is a good thing for a man to do. Reunions sound great to me. I'm wondering if we could possibly get together and meet....some of us in the northern OH and IN area that is. I'm willing to drive a bit. I'll PM you.

Kim ~ :wow2: 10 lbs gone!!! Great job...I am so proud of you girly!! Well, it won't be as long as it has been, huh? A few more days.

Myra ~ Have your tried the Chloraseptic spray? Someone on this thread recommended it and I bought some the other day just incase. Also, I bought some of those yogurt smoothies and they are pretty good and go down easy.

Best wishes for an uneventful surgery and quick recovery to:

Hey 3loves! Thanks... It has been difficult, but I'm glad I've done the liquid diet thing... Only a few more days... Its amazing how the high-protein liquids help with hunger.. the hardest part is the not chewing thing.. I figure my experience with this will be helpful post surgery! Are you ready? I know I am!

I'm ready!! Don't you know I woke up with a sore throat on Fri. I called my surgeon and they wanted me on antibiotics ASAP just to be safe. Both of my kids have this cough and snotty nose thing going on. A big part of it is allergies. My PCP got me in and I've taken a 3 day course of that z-pak thing or whatever it's called. Sore throat was gone on Sat, but had a bit of a cough this morning. Any suggestions? I'm going to fix some green tea when I'm done here.

I am taking my kids to stay with my parents on Wed so I will be able to get a lot of things in order after their gone.....2 boys can keep you pretty busy. They tried to give all their stuffed animals a bath today....silly kids.

What types of Protein are you using? Forgive me if you already shared this. :phanvan I bought the Isopure Zero Carb Grape and the Body Fortress chocolate powder from Wal-Mart.

EEK! I'm glad you are getting the sore throat thing taken care off! Don't wanna be sick on surgery day! I'll bet those boys keep you hopping! Its great that your parents can help you out with them and they get to spend quality time with them to boot!

The pre-surgery diet is Glucerna (diabetic weight loss shakes), sugar free Jello, sugar/fat free pudding and yogurt and broths..

I bought several flavors of the Isopure Zero Carb drinks for after surgery. Haven't tasted them yet, have you? I also ordered some of the Unjury Protein online. I tasted the chocolate.. its pretty good...

Hey May 2006 Band Creww!!

We all seem to be doing so well. Lets get this last week in with no problem!! How are the first week people feeling and are youi losing any weight yet? How is everyone doing on the food stages? I fly to my doctor tomorrow for my 2 week post op. I have been feeling hungry and no restriction whatsoever....I hope they can find a solution to this issue. However I have been sticking to the plan they gave me and have only consumed what was on my list.....

I tried the Mango Peach, Icy Orange, & Grape Frost. I didn't like the peach and the orange was OK. I got a case of the grape. I may try a couple other flavors later on. I forgot about the Unjury. I will try that next time.

I just tried the Blue Bunny Carb Freedom Yogurt smoothie. I LOVED the Blackberry Creme. :hungry: It isn't as sweet as the Dannon, which is pretty good I must say. The BB has a few more grams of protein, 13g, than the Dannon. I will probably use both.

BTW, are you going to share your future husband with the rest of us. Holy Cow, that man is sexy!!! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
