Not giving you flack, but why would you start a fad diet when you just got WLS to change your life? I know HCG is supposed to be a very strict, low calorie diet.

I would recommend talking to your surgical team. I never did try HCG, but always heard when people stopped the drops or injections they gained the weight back. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

well to be honest in the beginning i did everything that was required for the lapband but i stop losing after 45lbs so now i have started the hCG drops and i have lost 7lbs in one week and the majority of it is like in my stomach area which i really needed to work on. all i can say is do what is best for you. Different things work for different people in many different ways. The main goal here is to lose weight so however you get the weight off its up to you. Every diet plan or surgery is not meant for many people. Also everyone who have the lapband surgery is successful so keep that in mind as well.

I did ask my surgeon about that, he said it would be ok. I would be getting hcg injections from his office. I know that it will help me during this difficult time while I wait to be filled.

I did HCG in April 2011 it was the best I had ever found!!!!! The weight stayed off for about a year, but it did come back, and that's when I had had enough of the fad diets and decided the surgery. I had lost 32 lbs in about 2 mths or less. But I do agree you will do HCG eating only 500 calories a day but then will go back to your band life and possibly gain some weight back.

I have no idea why anyone would go for a ridiculous fad diet when they have the Lap Band. If you're only eating 500 calories a day and taking human growth hormone, you are going to gain every ounce back the minute you start eating normally and stop the hormone.

Plus, this warning came out in January:

"In January, the FDA warned that homeopathic hCG is fraudulent and illegal when sold for weight-loss purposes. Though the FDA said such products aren't necessarily dangerous, their sale is deceptive, since there's no good evidence they're effective for weight loss. What's more, all hCG products, including injections prescribed by a doctor, must carry a warning stating there's no proof they accelerate weight loss, redistribute fat, or numb the hunger and discomfort typical of a low-calorie diet."

Translation: HCG is nothing more than a useless gimmick and anyone only eating 500 calories a day is going to lose weight.

Btw- only eating 500 calories a day is a sure-fire way to lose muscle and lots of it. Just FYI.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
