SybilRamkin 15 Posted October 19, 2012 You all are fabulous! I don't post regularly' date=' but the support here is fabulous. Oct 30 for me. Have to have nuclear stress test first. Crazy all different diets depending on surgeon. For me, just day before - liquids only, but after, one week of only Clear Liquids, then two weeks of mushies. Anybody know how long after surgery we have to wait to start walking again- like around the neighborhood?[/quote'] I went for very short walks every hour or so for the first few days, and by short I mean around the house, or to the yard. On day 4 post-op I decided to walk down to the barn to see my horses and by the time I got there I was exhausted and has to wait quite a while to head back to the house. On the way back I took slow small steps, it was really nice because I normally power walk everywhere and rarely take the time to look around at the beautiful woods and listen to all the birds. I think that it takes some time to recover from the anesthesia, and to work all the drugs out of your body. I was very wheezy and tight in the chest after surgery, and that was my limiting factor for walking. I'm now 9 days post-op and can walk to the barn and back easily, and I took a spin around the local park yesterday at a fairly steady pace, but not pushing it at all. I'm still in the healing stage and I don't want to do anything to risk hurting myself. I can't wait to start riding again!

Fallbride 35 Posted October 19, 2012 Hi! I went for my one week post op visit last night and everything looks good. I am being advanced to the "puree" diet for two weeks and will go back to the doc then. Everything I have has to be pureed to the consistency of applesauce and I get three meals a day in addition to three Protein Shakes a day. The puree meal will be 3oz (the size of three ice cubes). Again, it's not about the taste or the consistency but about the end results. Puree brings me down the road that much farther! They also corrected me on my start weight back in July which was actually 426 not 425 so I am down 56 pounds since my first visit with them and 35 pounds of that was since I started the two week pre-surg diet three weeks ago. I already have a project for the weekend... getting rid of my largest size clothes which are all too baggy on me! Moving on the the next size in my closet already! Woo hoo! 3 destynee1, NYTeacher and Steffy723 reacted to this
Bfleming 15 Posted October 19, 2012 11 days till I am banded & getting a little nervous about doing the pre opt diet (even though My dr doesn't require it). Did any one get out the same day they was banded? my doctor says If I do well enough I could go home same day? That just seems a little scary to me.

I can't wait for the day i can go do that. I dont see my dr until Nov. 5 for my first post-op visit. But so excited to go on pureed food today. 1 destynee1 reacted to this

I returned to work the day after surgery. 1 destynee1 reacted to this
linda0084 15 Posted October 19, 2012 I'm a bit disappointed. I am still very sore. I feel like I can eat as before, although I have not cheated once. I'm not losing very much and feel like what was the point in going through all this? I'm hoping it gets better.

Jlynn217 54 Posted October 19, 2012 I took a walk around Walmart last night to get up and moving. Someone on chat made me feel that was too much. Am I not supposed to try to get moving?
NYTeacher 43 Posted October 19, 2012 I took a walk around Walmart last night to get up and moving. Someone on chat made me feel that was too much. Am I not supposed to try to get moving? I know we are supposed to get moving, without pushing ourselves. If your body didn't tell you to slow down, it was probably fine.

I was driven home 2 hours after surgery, then an hour later went to pick up my scripts at costco. You have to walk around a lot anyway to prevent clots and to move the gas around. When the dr says that you must do well enough it is because they require you to drink. If you can and don't vomit then you are well enough. Remember that a hospital has a lot of " things" floating around. You'll be in a weakened physical state and you immune system is not at its peak, sooooooo going home and resting is the best thing possible. 1 Bfleming reacted to this
