Good luck everyone! It will be good to post ASAP so we know how everyone did and those after us will know how we did and hopefully it will ease some minds. I'm totally ready down 16lbs so far in 13 days on my preop liquid Optifast diet and this coming Monday I do my preop and weigh in! I'm ready;)

Hi I am scheduled for the 4th

I get excited one hour and nervous the next, continuously all day long!

I am in Houston, TX and going through True Results but because insurance my operating doctor will be Ken Hollis.

If there is anyone in Houston going through True Results- will you all be attending the support groups they offer?

I have lost 6 pounds so far- yay me!!

I'm Oct 5th. So excited and nervous at the same time. I've lost 7lbs so far on the pre-op diet & surprisingly, once I put my mind to it; it wasn't that hard. I went thru True Results in San Antonio. I wish all of the best of luck!

I plan on attending the Last Tuesday of the month group, which I think may be the only one for True Results, not too sure? After many date changes, my final, for sure date is the 12th of October at Memorial City Hospital with Dr. Reilly! I'd love to meet people from here at groups!

Do you really like the Optifast how much was it and where did you get it from? My fear is losing so much during my pre op n they tell me I no longer qualify

My surgeon has not instructed me to do a pre op diet , is this normal?

I never got a pre-op diet either. Although I've decided to do what I call the Pre-Op For Post-Op diet... I'm doing as much as I can liquid-wise (surprisingly a lot better than I thought I would... I've faultered a few times but only for a small salad or veggies) so i can prepare for the post-op diet that I will be on... its pretty strict (really almost what the majority of people are doing for pre-op). I guess as others have said, it all depends on your surgeon and their way of doing things.

Best of Luck to Everyone!

The price depends on BMI which dictates how much you buy. It's like $100-150 a week. It's only sold by health professionals. My surgeon had a little store in his office. I wrote a blog post about my honest feelings about Optifast http://thefatgirlthin.blogspot.com/2012/09/optifast-800-day-1.html?m=1

An overview of my optifast food is here

http://thefatgirlthin.blogspot.com/2012/09/i-have-date.html?m=1

Personally I like the chocolate shake mix and the chocolate bar. Most of the items are sweet so I find myself craving savory. I'm on optifast only for 2 weeks. I cheated last night and had a grilled chicken salad (sooo good). I miss eating and crave certain foods but honestly I'm not hungry like I thought I'd be. And for the most part i feel pretty good and energized.

I have a shake at 8:30 and 11:30. 1/2 bar around 1 and 1/2 around 3. Then I do shake or Soup for dinner. I'm supposed to have 7 servings a day but I don't. My partner is supposed to have 6 but does 4 and has a glass of sweet tea a day. She's in the upper 200s and has lost like 11 pounds her first week on optifast.

I also use myfitnesspal to track its been great and has all the info for the optifast food.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
