Do you have restriction? What are you eating in an average day?

This will probably sound unsympathetic, but do you really think your children will be scarred for life if they have to eat in a healthy fashion?

Cook healthy... protien, veggies, salads. They will eat it. You don't need junk food in the house. There are plenty of treats and Snacks kids love. You might be suprised, cut up fruit... they will eat it. I can look at an apple or an orange or cantelope sit on the cupboard for days, cut it up and it gets devoured.

Honestly... it is the best thing you can do for you family! They don't have to go hungry or be deprived of all "sweets" but it certainly can only benefit them to eat healthy.

not sure what you mean by restriction i do eat a lot less it just like ill go to sleep and wake up looking for the treats that i have for my husbands lunches i eat one and go back to sleep i wiash i could just get rid of that stuff but, ill drive by the store and want some thing and ill get it too, its like i stay away from the sweets for a while and then i get sucked right back in like they calling to me i know it sounds like im nuts !! and the kids are just stressing me out. i cook good most chicken and fish oh and shrimp and veggis for meals it the snacking at work thats another crasy thing my shedule is off all the time i work 7p to 7a on a two week rotation is nice but sucks at the same time.

Do you have good restriction? If we decide to have pizza for supper, I can only get one piece down (depending on the pizza) I consider that healthy??? Make sure you are filling up on the good stuff, protien and veg. leave the carbs alone.

You can do it dontcry! Get your head in the game and make it happen!

Best of Luck to you!

Ya, the sweets and snacking was my biggest fear. I've learned to snack healthy... it really helps. It's very very hard but honestly, it is up to you. You need the willpower to make it happen or it won't!

Here's the other thing, I know this isn't easy. However, you can make all the excuses but it is only hurting yourself. It took me many years to learn but by making YOURSELF a priority, you will be a better wife and mom. I neglected myself for years thinking my kids came first. Well, when Mom is taking care of herself she is healthier and happier. You need to put your needs first. The situation with your husband is unfortunate but there are going to be many other challenges in life and we need to learn to keep trudging forward and not let it set us back. YOU CAN DO THIS - IF YOU WANT TO. Eating healthy doesn't have to be tasteless, cardboard foods. I am amazed at some recipes and how tasty they are. Someone posted in another blog about mixing low fat ricotta cheese with splenda and cocoa powder ... sounds yummy to me. When I am craving a sweet, I have sugar free Jello brand chocolate mousse on hand (60 calories). There are options. Stock your house with those "options" or your desk at work so you have low calorie alternatives. If you don't have the "junk" available, you cannot eat it. Whether your family is overweight or not, everyone benefits from eating healthy.

If your family doesn't want to eat healthy food with you, then let them fix their own meals and you take care of yourself.

The biggest looser exercising tape...got it for $5 bucks at Walmart....it's great, it does not tire you out too much....but make you work your biggest muscles (thighs) with cardio to burn fat....I lost 42lbs last year eating healthy and doing that tape....but gained 19 back and quickly doing the surgery before I put it all back on and more lol.....hope that helped.

You have to realize you're not on a diet, you have to change your eating habits for a lifetime. If your family, particularly the children, are still eating the unhealthy food that led to your obesity then you're not doing them any favors. They can only benefit from eating healthy with you. Look at this as your opportunity to positively change their lives to avoid your own fate of obesity.

Btw, I have two children of my own, so I am very much doing the same in my own home. They resisted at first but once they realized they were actually getting much tastier food and a bigger variety, they were very happy with the changes. I still make healthier versions of their old favorites too. Ironically, they can't even tell the difference.

As for the snacking and treats, only you have control over that. I know it's not easy but you have to get back track with healthy meals, band sized portions, and no junk food. No amount of restriction in your band is going to make better food choices for you, it's entirely up to you.

UNLESS YOU HAVE LITTLE KIDS WHO CAN NOT FEND FOR THEMSELVES...MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE..AND THE SAME GOES FOR YOU...MY FAMILY NO LONGER EVER JUST DROPS IN FOR COFFEE..BECAUSE THAT IS ALL THEY GET...WE NO LONGER KEEP CRAP IN THE HOUSE..IF YOU ARE NOT LOSING, GET WITH YOUR DOCTOR...UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES BE TOO EMBARRASSED TO GO BACK TO SEE HIM/HER. JUST REMEMBER THE BAND IS ONLY A TOOL...YOUR ARE THE WORKER....GOOD LUCK

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
