AnnetteT 77 Posted September 17, 2012 I've been scared to try regular steak, but I have had bison steak. It is much healthier and it was very tender. I did take very small bites and didn't have a problem.
Skyvic 226 Posted September 17, 2012 Yes I can do a filet mignon medium rare. Outback, Shwans, Texas Roadhouse...that I've tried plus in grocery stores. I also use tenderizer for grilled at home.
NWgirl 574 Posted September 17, 2012 I can eat any meat as long as it was prepared correctly and not overcooked. chicken is actually the hardest to go down for me. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
Sojourner 2,446 Posted September 17, 2012 I've had steak several times...but I also have TMJ problems. Having to make the effort to chew, chew, chew, was too much for me...so I will also stay with chicken, fish, and occasional sliced pork. What works well for me is to have Boar's Head Londonport roast beef in my salad or rolled up with romaine...not steak per say, but an acceptable substitute for me. elcee 3,341 Posted September 17, 2012 My band is very loose or so I thought. I had some beautifully tender, rare fillet and got stuck so badly that I ended up going to emergency and having most of the Fluid withdrawn. That was a couple of months ago and even though I have been refilled almost to the same level I am struggling to find an ideal level of restriction. So bottom line for me is even though I thought I could I couldn't and that it was not worth it. Now if the steak has been in the slow cooker all day then that is fine. 1 lassie reacted to this
Rebecca Cain Salpacka 100 Posted September 17, 2012 i dont have prob with it..but ive only tried ribeye, i eat it usually twice a week. Nutrtionist just told me at my last visit tho to drop it down to once a week or not at all, cuz red meat isnt considered a lean Protein, even if its a reallly lean cut...but she also told me i need another fill so maybe once i get my next fill i wont be able to eat it..not sure
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted September 17, 2012 Tiny bites? Rare? Or should I not even try? funny i read this as i had (steak) last night. all 3 oz worth. hub cut into very tiny tiny pieces. *mind you i am a so well done its almost leather* type steak eater but i dredge it in ketchup (to help with the moist factor). its yummy and high in Protein. (though i mainly stick with chicken breast)
kll724 3,055 Posted September 17, 2012 No steak for me. But, my husband made a stew using steak in the pressure cooker yesterday, and I enjoyed a lot. I mostly eat fish or chicken, tho'. Karen
LouisianaLiLi 231 Posted September 17, 2012 I have eaten steak several times since being banded. I eat mine medium rare and have had no trouble. I have had 2 fills and now have 5Ccs in my 10CC band. I have been steady at my 2 lbs a week weight loss, so I don' t see any problems. I do know many bandsters who have problems with steak though.
Disney Nut 60 Posted September 17, 2012 I love filet mignon! I'm getting banded a week from today, and I've been concerned about this too. I hope I'm one of those people that can handle it with tiny bites. 1 LouisianaLiLi reacted to this

Just tried to eat a few bites of a smoked turkey leg.......the worst "stuck" I have had in 9 months or since I was banded. Still feeling crappy..drinking coffee trying to get my gut to settle down.
