Kkcrowder 30 Posted September 16, 2012 Hat veggies are high in carbs or should count as carbs?
mybella 35 Posted September 16, 2012 it would be easier to go to "fitnesspal.com or caloriecount.about.com", and check out the veggies and look at the items you need to stay away from once/if you are banded.
Sojourner 2,446 Posted September 16, 2012 It's very important to understand the differences in carbs...those which occur naturally in fresh fruits, veggies and dairy products are usually acceptable, you just can't make your carb choices the highest ones out there. Typically, as I was advised by my surgeon, the carbs we need to stay away from are the processed sugar and flours which have too many calories with too little nutrition. This is where reading nutrition labels becomes very important, as there are many hidden carbs in foods. You should avoid choosing any foods which have sugar added to them. I find it easier to make appropriate food choices if I shop only the periphery of the grocery store. I steer clear of the bakery, and focus on the produce, dairy and meat sections.
