Affordable Fills In Idaho?

Recommended Posts

When I got my and placed I had Cigna United Healthcare through Connecticut general life insurance co. They covered lap band surgery and everything associated with it. Granted it took me over a 1 1/2 years to get them to actually pay for the surgery (after they kept telling me I didn't qualify even though I did and had over 50 pages of documentation proving it) it took hiring a lawyer and literally with in 1 week of going to US Dist court over the matter it was paid for! I had 12 months of free fills from my doc, now I have blue cross of Idaho as a state employee, they denied the payment stating "not covered through the terms of the policy" (which I have never been provided, nor can I find a copy of online) I am sure an appeal will be unsuccessful (still going to exhaust all appeals) but I am looking for a doc that will provide a reasonable lap band maintenance fee because paying $200 for .25 to .5 cc of Fluid is absolutely INSANE! Anyone have any advice??

I wish you luck with your search, I am a self pay patient in the Boise area and in order to even get a fill I have to travel to Pocatello which will cost out of pocket 245.00. I can't get any of the local physicians to even see me for aftercare because my surgery was done in another state. It's really frustrating that we don't have more options for Lapband follow up in our area;0(

Dr Cherice in Nampa does them for $75.00 but you will have to pay a initial patient establishment the first time(215.00) along with the fill, then it's 142.00 office visit plus fill. Yes that's her number above.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
