wildrose1966 396 Posted September 13, 2012 Can you give me some suggestions as to how you manage to get in your 70g of Protein the 5 days post surgery, or is the goal to just keep hydrated. I will be on liquids (broth, Soup, yoghart, pudding, smoothies etc) thanks
honk 780 Posted September 13, 2012 Does your doctor allowed Protein Shakes immediately after surgery? Mine allowed Protein shakes but keep in mind no fruit! If they are allowing you yogurt I would expect that you could have protein shakes. As to yogurt the best type is Greek yogurt as it is much higher in protein. I was not allowed yogurt until week 3. If you do choose Greek yogurt I recommend the type with fruit in it as Greek yogurt in general is very sour. I put mine in my mini blender to mince up all the fruit chunks so it was smooth I also added fat free milk to make it a thinner consistency.

amyknecht 8 Posted September 13, 2012 Protein Shakes worked for me, I liked the Unjury brand, I would mix up an 8 oz shake with skim milk or Water and sip it all morning. It helps with Protein and the hydration factor.
wildrose1966 396 Posted September 13, 2012 I can do shakes with fruit (no seeds), need them supercold so tend not to sip, guess I can make small portions. I figured I would measure out at least 50g of Protein Powder the first week and just add it to everything, Soup, pudding, Jello, til it's gone for the day. Being banded on Monday and starting to obsess
Sojourner 2,446 Posted September 13, 2012 Post op it is a challenge to get all your fluids...so make certain to focus on having the prescribed number of Protein shakes daily. You have 2 benefits together... hydration and Protein. Make it a priority to mix your Protein Powder with milk, you will have additional protein that way. It does get easier to sip what you need...
