Can you give me some suggestions as to how you manage to get in your 70g of Protein the 5 days post surgery, or is the goal to just keep hydrated. I will be on liquids (broth, Soup, yoghart, pudding, smoothies etc)

thanks

Does your doctor allowed Protein Shakes immediately after surgery? Mine allowed Protein shakes but keep in mind no fruit! If they are allowing you yogurt I would expect that you could have protein shakes. As to yogurt the best type is Greek yogurt as it is much higher in protein. I was not allowed yogurt until week 3. If you do choose Greek yogurt I recommend the type with fruit in it as Greek yogurt in general is very sour. I put mine in my mini blender to mince up all the fruit chunks so it was smooth I also added fat free milk to make it a thinner consistency.

Protein Shakes worked for me, I liked the Unjury brand, I would mix up an 8 oz shake with skim milk or Water and sip it all morning. It helps with Protein and the hydration factor.

I can do shakes with fruit (no seeds), need them supercold so tend not to sip, guess I can make small portions. I figured I would measure out at least 50g of Protein Powder the first week and just add it to everything, Soup, pudding, Jello, til it's gone for the day. Being banded on Monday and starting to obsess

Post op it is a challenge to get all your fluids...so make certain to focus on having the prescribed number of Protein shakes daily. You have 2 benefits together... hydration and Protein. Make it a priority to mix your Protein Powder with milk, you will have additional protein that way.

It does get easier to sip what you need...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
